There’s been a surge in first-time buyers. More than eight million Americans bought a gun for the first time since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic last year, according to an estimate from the National Shooting
My 21yo son was one of them.
Dude bought a M&P 15 Sport II and a Hellcat 9mm subcompact (concealed carry soon)

Not only am I not getting a stimulus check, I'm going to have to pay about $4500 to the feds this year.
If I got a stimulus check, I'd buy ammo and gold.
Same boat, but I'd also spend it on cocaine and hookers

Fatalities from gun violence totaled 43,530 last year, according to the Gun Violence Archive, a 10% rise from 39,529 the year before. That includes homicides, suicides, accidents, mass shootings and self-defense shootings.
How in the hell are "accidents" and "suicide" considered to be "gun violence"?
Moreover, mass gatherings were essentially outlawed for almost ALL of 2020. So how many (non hood related) mass shootings were there?
Of course, those questions don't coincide nicely with a narrative/agenda

I bought one with mine.

When you have a narrative that isn't supported by relevant facts.
So you just start adding in irrelevant facts until your narrative becomes "truth."
Then you get the MSM to repeat your narrative over and over until to most people, it is indeed truth.

Id also be interested in the number of deaths caused by people legally buying guns. im willing to be thats a very low number and actually has more to do with the article than just blindly tying in deaths to the amount of guns being bought.
facts be damned though
This a report issued by the DOJ regarding current prisoners on the state & federal level and gun crimes.
I know this will be a complete and utter shock- but nearly 90% of the guns they used in the crimes they were currently imprisoned for "did not come from a retail source."
Source & use of firearms used in crimes

Who buys those obnoxiously colored ARs in the background?
I go to SHOT Show (the world's trade show run by NSSF) and you'd be surprised by how many different styles and color options are out there. (The "Law Enforcement" hall is eye opening...it looks like a military surplus store. My son wants this one but I can't find it anywhere.

I’m not against some cool designs, but just slapping on a purple or pink anodized hand guard is
There are some cool ones, I’m considering picking up a Spikes battleworn set but haven’t seen one in person so I’m on the fence. Typically I just do black or FDE so this would be my first other.

The industry is trying to grow and get women involved (who normally wouldn't even touch a gun 10 years ago.) All of our family's were either wood or black before our boat overturned in the middle of a lake. We did consider buying my wife a purple one before getting her involved in shooting handguns for concealed carry and my son's AR.
Just a little more detail to my prior comment... A lot of the big companies are selling out for two huge reasons. First, the obvious surge that comes with Democrats in power. Second, the big companies (Ruger/Vista/Armalite) are dropping their wholesale margins in an effort to sell more to make up for sunk costs from last year's marketing. Those companies spend millions on booth build outs and promotional materials. They usually roll it out for SHOT which is the 3rd weekend of January and then use it for the NRA Convention & there's another show on the east coast later in the year. NSSF had a good Covid plan in place and everyone was planning as they normally would last fall. They didn't cancel it until November. My belief is that they waited until it became clear whether the international component (which makes up a HUGE chunk) would be able to take part. Just to be clear that's my personal take (not what in my capacity as an outdoor media member has been told.) The companies already had sunk millions into promotional stuff. I think that's why we are going to see more consolidation in the coming year. Remington only exists as a brand name now. Vista is buying up these medium sized companies and has the capital to take on a few businesses where the owners are now willing to take what they can rather than go under.
For the baws who don't know and may be curious, in the early 90s they held the show in NOLA at the convention center. It is now permanently in Vegas. Caesars built an exhibit hall and pedestrian bridge over the strip (the show is based in the Sands CC.) 2021 was supposed to be the first year of its use and at that point would be over 3x the square footage of the NOLA CC. If you were to just walk in straight lines down each aisle you would be walking over 7 miles. It's a 4 day show that you have to actually schedule meetings/ interviews for in advance and put together a gameplan so you can cover a much as possible. Oh and if you're lucky enough to have a connection, on the day before the show starts they have what's called Range Day. Basically you're shuttled from the strip to the desert where you can shoot anything from a Walther PPK to a .50 air rifle to FULLY AUTO 9mm & shotguns. It's like taking a kid to a candy store. Also very cool to meet some of the celebs who come in (RIP GUNNY.)

You must be single or have a wealthy wife. 4500 only seems like enough to qualify.

I work with a few different manufacturers and business is booming right now. It's been good times for us since Trump lifted all the restrictions from the Obama administration business was booming under Trump. I don't think people realize how messed up manufacturing became under Obama. Certainly, the general public didn't. Now, we're seeing another uptick, but it's not because of Biden being business friendly. It's because everyone is scared of what kind of legislation the dems and Biden may pass that will restrict certain guns or ammo. So, people are worried and orders are up right now to try and get stuff before those restrictions come back.

Feinstein has just unveiled her new assault weapons ban. If the universal background checks passes, I feel the assault weapons ban will pass too. After seeing SCOTUS punt on the election cases, I don't have a warm and fuzzy feeling about getting it overturned.

Yea, my whole company is worried about that type of stuff. Right now it's our bread and butter. We're diversified, but nothing is bringing in the money like weapon parts.
