For those who have ridden in NOLA parades, how much did you spend on throws?

I'm riding for the first time this year and trying to figure out how much I'm going to need to spend on throws. The krewe offers packages but are those worth it? I know there are some mardi gras stores in the area to go check out throws at. I'm trying to figure out how to be economical. I wanna throw some good stuff but I also want to build a nice base layer of regular beads so I don't run out.

Get ones with weed leaves, fleur-de-lis or skulls that light up for the best titties/pussies

Just convert whatever cash you are planning on spending into coins and throw those at people.

I think I spent around $2k on throws for Endymion.
And I wished I had more...

<---- Rode a Super Krewe parade in 2019, probably about $7k
I threw good shite.
Throwing Frisbees were the most fun for me.

Think about how much you want to spend, double it, and you’ll still wish you had more

Actually not a bad answer.
Of course, it's probably a lot more these days.

All depends on what parade you are riding in.

You won’t need much for little rascals

You can save a lot of money by going to abandoned lots or fields, gathering rocks, and painting them purple and gold.

1,500 to 2,000. Buy good shite that people will keep.

Dead serious: huge bags of fortune cookies are cheap

It all depends on parade length and how much room you have to put beads (some floats are very tight), probably 1,500 to 2,000. You will need to buy some thru the Krewe to get the Theme Beads, Cups, Doubloons ect. Then supplement with beads from one of the many bead stores. On the supplement beads I would suggest nothing shorter than 48". The smaller beads are cheaper but cheaper is not better.

The amount you spend will depend upon the parade you are riding in.
I probably spend around $1,000 - $1,200 on throws each year to ride in Thoth. $200 or so from Thoth (Cups, specialty items, etc.) and the rest on beads and other throws from Plush Appeal, Beads by the Dozen, etc.
That number is probably higher if in a night parade where you will be buying things that light up.
48" 12mm is my base bead that I buy for regular beads, and then I will get a mixture of bigger and longer ones, after that.

Which krewe?
Buy the krewe throws. No one wants the crap you buy at Mardi Gras outlets.
I’m a Tucks vet and spend around $2k-3500 pending on how generous I want to be. That includes float fees and tickets for the after party. Can’t say for other Krewes but the basic package is plenty.
