Good post
Local churches through north la help people with food and place to sleep.
If you wandering around with nowhere to go and short on money, that’s your best bet.

For those who are evacuating late, earlier I was looking on Hotels.com and there wasn't a lot available tonight but there are lots of hotel reservations in LC, Shreveport, etc. starting tomorrow night. So you just need to find a place to crash tonight but make reservations now for the following 3-7 days. It was a lifesaver after Laura to have an airbnb for a week after to allow us time to regroup and figure out what we were facing.

We will be coming in from Dallas area:
FRIENDS!
As many of you know I have been in staffing for the last 10.5 years.
With Hurricane Ida making landfall today, we’ve got a few challenges ahead of us.
1. Prayers for my brother and his family as well as many other friends and family members who are in the direct path of the storm.
2. We have been asked to bring in 200 semi-skilled workers and 90 skilled workers (plumbers, carpenters, welders, pipe fitters, welders.
3. We have also been asked to help provide food with our smoker for up to 2,000 meals a day.
Sounds like a logistic nightmare right?
We are meeting this afternoon with disaster relief leaders and will know more later tonight. Early indicators show they want us on-site by Wednesday.
Things we may need help securing:
1. Food
2. Generators
3. Large tents
4. Cots
5. Toiletries
6. Tarps
7. First aid supplies
8. Lighting
9. ?
10. ?
Like I said, we will know more later, but we will appreciate anything you can provide. Not looking for handouts, looking for large scale resources.
I’ll update this with more information as I get it.

I’m in Tennessee and probably can’t help much but I’d donate hotel points for anyone so they can stay for free.

When I lived in Fort Worth, I had to go get Mom and bring her back from Laffy a few times during storms.
I often saw fleets of trucks with trailers with water and bbq pits driving into the storm to help people.
If any of you North Texas/South Texas/East Texas guys are preparing thank you!

For those riding it out, you may want to download a walkie talky app (I'm using Zello Walkie) to keep communications open with loved ones if Cell Towers are out for long periods of time. I remember during Katrina the Nextels were the only things that worked.

Have not lived in Louisiana for quite awhile, but I went to LSU during Gustav. Stay safe and good luck to all.
