And when you were a kid, you didn't pop fireworks all night?

No. I was probably shooting rabbits and praying they didn't have worms.

I've got a pregnant wife and a rescue dog who's afraid of explosions. Already planning a trip to the mountains for next year's 4th of July. I'm a patriotic person but I think fireworks should be left to cities/counties. There are a lot of people who want to avoid fireworks and we should give them the opportunity to avoid the noises.

First, congratulations on your pregnant wife. However, you've shot off fireworks before you met her and before you were an adult. The world isn't gonna just stop doing it because now you're having a kid and it's rude. Also, I say this as someone who hasn't shot off a firework in the last three years.

How about Juno achieving orbit around Jupiter? Worth a firecracker or two?

That defeats the whole purpose of fireworks. The ones that are shot off by the city/county are for women who just want to watch.

A bunch of old geysers in this thread

I don't like the fact that some people will pop them a day or 2 before the 4th and then use the remaining ones on the 5th. My dogs HATE it.
