When my 4year old had cancer, we wrote blogs on caringbridge.com
It is quite cathartic to be able to share your thoughts and worries. I'm a very private person but the blog was quite helpful in my processing what was happening to my son and to me for that matter.
It also helps to post in one single domain rather than having to answer a littany of texts/calls/emails

Pathetic? No
Just thought it was over sharing, I understand that people have taken an interest in his recovery but don't see the need to explain why/how his girlfriend is moving on. It should be pretty clear to anyone following closely enough to know who she is as to why she would be moving on with her life.

You could make the argument that this is completely different than posting it on Facebook.. I would look at the site you used as some sort of therapy for you and you get to vent to people who have gone through the same thing
That’s completely opposite from someone piggybacking off of someone else’s misfortunes just so they can get some attention from fbook

On one hand I agree the over sharing has gone insane, on the other FB posts help them get gofundme funds (I'm assuming) so it's tough for me to get super worked up.

Fine, but if they didn’t feel the need to post daily updates then they wouldn’t be in this position to begin with

I guess I can understand the financial aspect of it as well.. but how did families ever manage to get through situations like this before Facebook, gofundme, etc??

im sure the family was getting messages about her not being in pic and such.
she is 25 maybe and nick is in his 40s.

I am so torn on this and I can't imagine what the family is going through, but what struck me is where Nick is at, 2.5 years later:
On top of the fact that he still doesn't seem to be terribly lucid.
It is very hard to say, but I don't believe I would want to live like that.
And I can't imagine seeing a loved one in that state.
I am going to have a deep philosophical discussion with myself about this to see where I come out. Is life worth living if the "quality" is so poor, even after 2.5 years and no hope of major improvement?

read the first sentence. the officer wanted it be known. Think of it as him giving his blessing for her to move on.
a lot of people who will never be in that situation will play arm chair QB. I dont see a huge problem with putting it out in the open. There was likely something said/done regarding his fiance that made him want to do this. To protect her.

I totally agree with her decision to move forward with her life while still remaining a part of Nick's life. She's already done way more than a lot of young women would do.
That being said, her next SO is going to have a hell of a lot to live up to.
