I remember the Bicentennial Minutes that were broadcast on TV, and the Bicentennial Logo painted on the VAB at Kennedy Space Center.

quote:True, but is it a specific brand of politics that worships government and not God. They are the ones who do not possess the ability to disagree without violence or hate.
Now politics is more like a religion for some people.

I remember being in the cub scouts and we went around painting all of the fire hydrants red, white & blue in our uniforms....

There are too many people that weren't born here.
They hate our country but love it's milk and honey.

White Castle?
We watched the Sail250 parade of wooden ships and jets in NY harbor this morning. I remember being at my grandparents house and watching the ships back in 1976. I was 13 at the time and thought the bicentennial was pretty cool. Sail250 was cool also. Will be more good stuff to watch this evening.

I was the “editor” of my 5th grade newspaper in 1976. It was printed on a mimeograph. I remember drawing a banner headline with the “76” being written as one number. I thought I was being clever. We had a patriotic play about the Revolution and I had one line where I stood on stage and led the Pledge of Allegiance. I was young and didn’t understand or appreciate it enough, but it was a big deal.

I was in rural Virginia and Maryland last week. I saw tons of American flags and banners celebrating the 250th.

I was alive but don’t remember much going on, but I also grew up in a small town where 7/4/76 probably didn’t mean shite except a day off from work.
