Litter boxes

This is the sole reason I don't have a cat.

Just seems like so much extra work for a pet that probably won't even like you.

Former roommate had two really awesome cats. But I feel like they are in the minority.

Whereas I've met very few dogs I didn't like.

so much extra work?

it literally takes 1 minute out of my day to clean my litter boxes. if thats the only thing holding you back, you should get a cat. they are awesome animals to have. way different personality than dogs and are much easier(and cheaper) to care for. i can leave for days at a time and my two cats are perfectly fine by themselves. if we leave for more than 12 hours, we have to make plans for the dog.

Eh... I have a Staffie (like a pitbull but smaller). If someone broke in, she'd attack them with kisses and affection. She's truly the worst guard dog possible. She's never met a stranger (which sucked in Nola when a crackhead would walk past us.)

We have some outside cats that stay around the barn. Every few weeks one will disappear and another will take its place. I always assume it's coyotes but maybe it's cat homicide.

Less time and effort than taking a dog out and waiting for the dumb thing to figure out where to pee. Add in less grooming and feeding and a cat is vastly less effort than any dog.

I have a female cat who is bat shite crazy... She only gives me attention on her terms... She does what she wants when she wants and i dont have to do a damn thing but feed her, love her, and change litter... Its awesome and i respect that deeply... Btw odor control litter is great... My house doesnt smell at all...
She has an amazing personality that beats out every dog ive had and most people ive met...
Of course she can be a bitch but she is one of a kind and it sure as hell beats a generic happy-go-lucky lab personality any damn day

You guys must be fricking gay if your cat isn't loyal to you. I don't even own a cat, buy my neighbors cat will follow me wherever I go and come to me when I call her. Also sometimes when I pet her, she will message me at the same time. Usually she doesn't do this but it can happen.

We had strays come around the first house I bought. One had a litter of kittens and used to sleep under my company car. Got in my car one day and drove to a customers office in Atlanta. Parked on the top level of the parking deck and went inside for my meeting. When I got back to my car I put the keys in the ignition to start the car while sitting sideways with my legs still hanging out. The radio volume was average. Swung my legs in and started closing the door when I hear an alarming animal shriek. It kept going and I thought it was part of the song on the radio for a few seconds. Finally turned the radio down and the shrieking continued. WTF is going on! Looked around the inside of the car and then opened the door again and could hear it louder. Damn kitten was wedged in the hinge area of my door. All I could see was its face and the only opening was to tiny for me to reach my hand in. I felt so sorry for that little kitten but had no way to reach it even when laying on my back and trying to get to it from underneath. I had to have the door opened to a certain degree to make the seam big enough but every time I got to a certain point it would pinch the kitten. I could see its paw all mangled an bleeding. Went into my customers office and told him he wouldn't believe the dilemma but I have a damn cat stuck in my door. Finally decided to call animal control and trying to explain to them the situation was hard because she could not comprehend how a cat was stuck in my car door. The guy finally showed up about 45 minutes later and used an extended arm with grippers to pull it out. It was alive and only seemed to have the one leg and paw crushed. Only thing I could figure is it rode in my engine compartment for 40 miles and once I parked and cut the engine it tried to escape down through the side and got lodged in the hinge area.
That's all I got to say about cats.
