I don't know why people are so hateful, or make it a contest. I like both cats and dogs very much. So many people just straight up hate cats, and it sucks. I don't care for certain aggressive dogs, but I also don't wish death upon them.
I love cats and dogs. Many men think cats are feminine so they have to over compensate by trying to "be a man" when talking about cats and how they suck and want to kill them etc. They will say stuff like "my german shepherd would kill your cat"...oh yeh big bad dog can kill an animal that is 1/10th its own size...now put that german shepard up against a cat the same size and see which one is killed

oyotes got her--now THAT is an awful creature.
same happened to me, had a cat that would use the doggy door to come in and out as he pleased. usually came in at night and I'd shut the doggy door, didnt come home one night, never saw him again. Have seen a lot of coyotes by my house as well as foxes and owls, could have been any of the above.
He was a bad arse cat, used to bring me snakes, squirrels and birds... suprised another animal was able to get him, but I guess thats what happened

Grr. Goddamn cats!
I had a cat in my house for 5 minutes and I started googling pics of David Beckham and masturbating. Can't explain it.
Thank god we swept ol Whiskers out the back door. Whew!

I don't think cats are feminine. I just think they are the animal equivalent of Ted Bundy.

Dogs are much better at being homeless.
Cats are much better suited to survive being homeless. That is if people aren't just out killing them unfortunately.. This doesn't tend to happen with dogs because everyone values dogs. Any ways, cats hunt for their meals better, eat rodents, bugs, grass, etc.. Dogs probably need more means of food and are more likely to get into harm's way. Cats have more survival instincts.. can get in and out of places easier..
Just an opinion though..
I wish more people had a better understanding cats. Often I don't blame some for not being friendly, considering the cruelty I have seen.. but once they do trust you.. they are absolutely sweet and loving. I know this from several personal experiences in rescue. My most recent kitten rescue was probably my best work yet. This kitten was being attacked by a larger cat.. How I was able to get him was miraculous.. He would hiss and moan so hard. I kept him in a secluded room. Visited him over several days continuing to try to build trust. He wouldn't let me get near him. Kept feeding him. One day he even bit me, but it was more my fault because I grabbed him in hiding.. The more I worked with him though the more trusting her got.. One day he finally trusted me enough to pet him while eating and the purring began.. next thing I knew he was rubbing and crawling all over me.. He would even get on my shoulder like a parakeet and just sit.. and even go for shoulder rides while I walked around.
then he would come get in my bed while i was sleeping and always sleep next to me every night. i got him fixed and then found a person to adopt him. i wish i could have kept him, but already have enough pets..
any ways, people don't care for things they don't value.. and people have such a hate for these animals. it sucks. i do know that just getting them fixed (even later on) can make a massive difference. i have another cat i rescued who was afraid of anyone but me.. and would hiss at my sister (who desperately wanted to play with him) i got him fixed and now he crawls on her lap and just purrs.. complete 180.. the cool thing is in lafayette you can get feral animals neutered/spayed for free.. via trap and release program.. over at SpayNation.

yeah some outdoors/farm places are great places for stray/feral cats. i've known some people who look to adopt these types to feed them in exchange for their services.
also, the guy talking about cats killing birds.. humans kill birds as well.. i mean they are animals.. it's a survival/animal world out there. i've seen old neighbors dogs get out and kill my other neighbors cats that were in their own yard.. personally i value a dog and cat more so than a bird, especially given they can be a potential pet.
i love cats i guess because many people often don't nor have the patience to. one thing i am glad for is the social acceptance of cats becoming a thing in today's time. for instance, all the funny videos, social network, movie mentions, etc..

Yeah I know they arent going to defend you if an intruder comes into your house but...
My outside cats run off dogs its really crazy to see them go after a doberman or a german shepherd that is litterally 5-6x their size and the dogs run off.

I don't trust people that don't like cats. Almost as much as I don't trust people that don't like dogs.

my neighbor apparently had evidence that it was coyotes. She spared me the details.
They are all over our neighborhood even though I'm aboutu a half mile from Emory University. Very woodsy with a pretty big creek on my lot + train tracks they like to travel.
They used to hole up by the creek just two houses down, every June. I saw a huge one running across the golf course once. Looked like a damned wolf.
Critter brought me a dead snake once, and a live chipmunk that she released in the house for torture fun time. I saved the poor bastard.

Tread lightly. You will have 20 people swearing their dogs don't stink and that you can't even smell them when you walk into their houses...which is ridiculous.

You're missing out. Our German shepherd is a dork when he sees a mouse and just watches it run by but the cat has caught 2 in 2 days.
It's like a having a mouse roomba.
just wait, in a few weeks the mice will be gone but the morning spit ball in your shoes will still be there and you will be wishing that you had just got a mouse trap

I'm ok with cats being less needy. But to suggest cats aren't social creatures and don't value human attention or "miss" a person when they are gone is ignorant. I've absolutely experienced cats being excited to see me come home.
And as for personal protection, I certainly don't trust my life to any pet. I've had toy poodles and chihuahuas which we certainly didn't own because we thought they were going to save us from intruders. We owned them to be pets. Though they were highly effective at keeping some of my black friends frightened walking through the house.
I stay armed for protection from intruders.

You don't actually believe this do you?
We've left him with loving family members for 2 weeks before who fed him and loved on him. He'll sleep in the bed with my mom just like he does with us.
When we pull into the driveway he starts whimpering with joy and sprints out the door to jump on me and won't go further than a couple feet from my hip for hours.
It's unreal how much you hate dogs. You're such a count about it too
