my shepherd mix just went to his leash that hangs by the door. tapped the metal part against the wall with his nose. looked at me, then went to the other side of the house where i "hide" his tennis ball. pointed at it and then stared at me until i blinked.
once he wears me down and we go throw the ball, he will perform acrobatic feats and play a side-game where he puts the ball at my feet and then fricks with me by snatching it a couple times just as I touch it.
meanwhile, my neighbor's cat will be inside licking itself or shitting in a smelly box, or outside decimating the bird population.

Again, if you guys don't have an outdoor predatory cat, you're missing out.
I don't want those things inside for a lot of reasons, but they are very useful outdoors.

My mom had a cat and a dog. She would sweep up the labs hair and then. Swiffer the walls to get the cat hair. No thanks.

The problem with the cat haters is their ignorance of cats. They tend to lump all cats together into the douchiest cat personality. Aside from the obvious fact that cats and dogs have different personalities stemming from very different characteristics, there seems to be a greater variation of personality in cats than dogs from my anecdotal experience. Dogs on a whole tend to be consistently more social and affectionate creatures.
Cats are really hit or miss. I've been around a few cats that were really awesome. Very friendly, personable but of course still independent and roamy as well. But I've also been around cats that fit the stereotype and just flat out are unfriendly assholes. I suspect that the cat haters simply extend this template to all cats having no other experience to go off of.

Dogs are much better at being homeless.
My other dog was straight-up hitchhiking on a Forest Service road 10 miles off any paved road, when we found her. She laid it on thick too, with the pathetic faces.
I mean, she was legit starving. But still, it was an Oscar-worthy performance.

The key with cats is to only have male cats. Female cats are mean as shite.

It takes patience, I have made really mean (bc they are scared), wild stray cats turn into really nice pets..
People just don't have that kind of patience or care for the most part. It's very rewarding though. I often rescue these animals, get them comfortable and find homes or keep them myself. They really can come a long ways.
I don't know why people are so hateful, or make it a contest. I like both cats and dogs very much. So many people just straight up hate cats, and it sucks. I don't care for certain aggressive dogs, but I also don't wish death upon them.

They still don't give a frick about you. They are all sociopaths. A cat isn't going to be upset when you leave the house or try to defend you if you're in trouble.
I agree with you though.
I'm fine with cats and appreciate their worth. I just don't want them in my house.

Wut? Did you miss the part about the German shepherd?
I just had to bathe his arse in vinegar because he got skunked last week.
Eta worse part is when he goes to the bedroom window at 3am and starts freaking growling. I never know if it's a possum or a coyote outside and don't care to find out.

i did have a bad-arse cat. found her in the middle of downtown Atlanta.
never declawed her. no litter box. she came in and out as she pleased.
super personable. not aloof at all. she would watch me do wiring and plumbing on my house as though she was trying to learn how to do it.
coyotes got her--now THAT is an awful creature.
RIP Critter. She looked like this, without the copyright watermarks.

She was plotting how to kill you and move in your house and assume your identity.

Yep. They are terrible where we live.

hahaha. her first move was probably going to be to swap out the 110 for 240V and watch me fry. that's why i had to hire the coyotes.

I saw one in green hills. Thing was much smaller than I thought it'd be. My dog is 75 lbs and is much bigger it seemed.
Also the thing was terrified of me. Couldn't have run away faster. Apparently it or its friend tried to eat my neighbors wiener dog.
