I bet we go to the same church

This is the narthex, and you'll notice it is huge (probably 20 times the size of the previous cry room), filled with comfortable seating, and the mics are piped in so those inside can hear and see the Mass.

the kids are SUPPOSED to be in church. And that the adults and the old people need to show a little compassion to the new parents

So many people were upset they scrapped the cry room in the new church I think the priests just started addressing the congregation so people didn't feel bad. Parents didn't have anywhere take their little ones, moms needed to nurse, etc.

quote:

You really don't get church, do you?

How so? Because I believe it's the most important part of our week and parents should ensure their children are not a distraction to those sitting near them?

quote:

I'm a relatively recent Catholic convert, and something i never understood is why so many cradle Catholics insist on church being equitable to a funeral in terms of demeanor. I never see so many sour faces as i do when i go to mass, and i don't get it.

I suppose it's because a large part of the service is asking atonement for our sins and focusing on Christ's ultimate sacrifice for us. The act of consecration of the Eucharist is about the holiest of experiences we can have on earth. If you approach Mass from that perspective, it makes more sense as to why people look more serious.

quote:

Parents also, would like to get something out of mass.

As would the people sitting around you.

You clearly don't remember having a 2-3 year old. It's quite possibly the worst age for young boys.

Um, I absolutely do. I also remember watching Mass through a window of the cry room that smelled like a mix of poopy diapers and Goldfish. But my husband and I did that as a small sacrifice to our fellow parishioners so they could participate fully in Mass and without distraction. I never thought that my children and their desires were something others should have to tolerate.

We have a Christian duty to serve our neighbors and to bring others closer to God. If the actions of my children have the opposite effect, then I'm doing something wrong as a mother.

This infuriates me. I’m close to quite a few priests. They are all inspiring, upstanding, amazing men.
Oh no!!

Well that makes up for the Vatican and Catholic Church harboring pedophiles for years and how many children lives were ruined because THE CATHOLIC CHURCH ALLOWED CHILDREN TO BE RAPED

When you get done clutching your pearls look up Father Neil Gallanagh. He was the one that kept raping little boys so they moved him to the school for the deaf.

So take your bullshite fake outrage over a joke and frick all the way off.

Your defending an organization that contributed to tens of thousands of children being raped. No, all priest don't rape, but for you to pretend like you deserve to be offended is fricking hilarious. There's literally little deaf boys that were raped by a Priest because the church didn't want bad publicity but you're the victim here lol.

Churches typically have activity packets for the little ones to keep them occupied.

I consider the sound of a crying baby to be beautiful.

Typical hypocritical church goer. Jesus would hate you, baw.
There’s pretty substantive evidence that Jesus has already been hating on him.
