I have a learned opinion on this based upon a few books but more importantly stories from my dad who was friends with a lot of local mobsters, and spooks.

What say ye? Anybody remember him or have any stories about Ferry, Shaw, Russo, Bannister, Garrison, the pilot, etc

Eta - oh, I get it now. Maybe a title change would be beneficial. "For people over 60 who lived in NOLA, was oswald...." something along those lines maybe?

My Father attended Beauregard Middle School and Warren Easton Hih with him. Said he was a weird guy. Doubt he had mob ties.

Mine too, back in 70/80s they seemed to be all alcoholics like my dad so he had a lot of spook and Mob drinking buddies particularly from his time in Alaska

He's asking if old folks from New Orleans have any insight on Oswald.

I don't think I've ever run across anyone who claims to have even known him at all. I know there's a little placard on the bar at Le Bon Tons on Magazine denoting where he supposedly used to sit and drink, but that's about all I know substantively of any connection to the city.

He was too dumb to pull it off. Exactly why the mob hired him

Or hear any rumors etc. The book Lee and me written by a local big easy girl claiming to be be Lee Harvey Oswald’s girlfriend tells a very different and much more accurate story. (With pictures)

Either way Lee was ducked after his ill fated trip to Mexico

You might want to change the thread title to anybody over 80.

My old man said he was a spook. Everyone else he said was a spook turned out to be one (including a pilot from Louisiana who was featured in a movie recently and openly IDed as a CIA contractor by several former smugglers in Cocaine Cowboys. ) who was his friend

He could be a little spooky, especially on Halloween.

He was a patsy. He wasn’t in the CIA…. But he was on the payroll.

A lot of conspiracy theories out there but one with more in common than the rest is that Oswald was simply a tool for the Mob. Papa Kennedy had asked the Mob to get Illinois' vote for his son; in return, Joe promised that Robert would pull the DOJ off the Mob's back. When Robert went hard after the Mob after Jack was safely voted as POTUS, the Mob got even with Joe. Think about it: with the biggest assassination in history, Ruby was able to walk right up & kill Oswald. At the time, Oswald was the most famous prisoner in U.S. history; And Ruby was just standing there when Oswald was being led down the basement. How did he ever get that close?

Yep, crazy how they just casually walked him to the car.

Oswald would look like this today..

Generally a slang term for a CIA operative but could be any government agency employee involved in intelligence/espionage.

Story I was told:

Oswald was a spook contractor, he fricked up something in Mexico or was held responsible for it, (I believe he mishandled the exploding cigar or something for an attempted Castro assassination, and became a liability) He was involved in the assassination of Kennedy but in a logistic manner and was not any of the actual shooters but set up to take the fall. He was a patsy in that manner but he was well aware of the events in advance. The actual shooter(s) were flown out of Dallas by Barry Seale.

It was a CIA operation with assistance from the Mob. They were pissed over the bay of pigs but his affairs made him a significant security risk which gave them the green light.
