Cheaper... technically yes
But it’s worth your sanity if she turns into a psychopath.

It's cheaper for her to keep me! I have no alimony to pay because I didn't cheat nor abuse her. So in the end, she will net zero or lose money.

I'm gonna come out ahead in the end. Play your cards right guys, bitches don't need stitches, just need a serious financial cut will do way more damage.

Way more rewarding.

No. Retirement is not the end all, be all in this deal. Unless you have zero equity in your house.

Cheating Or other faults only matter in that it can disqualify you from alimony, but it’s not awarded very often anyway.
Community property is eminently fair and a rare instance in which Louisiana it was fairly advanced in law.
Where men often feel they get screwed is in child support. Spouses have joint custody but the higher wage earner still pays child support. Often, the lower wage earner believes it’s a good time to do something like go back to school, and that will trigger a wage differential and extra child support.

I'm not laughing at you or that idea. You are right. My ex- wife looks at the "extra child support" as a "good time to go to the beach with her girlfriends" and frick over my kids. No disrespect to your comment.

I was told that inheritance is not community property. Anybody else know if this is true in Louisiana?

Inheritance is NOT community at all. Get it/claim before she sells or burns it. Document it, pictures, any kind of tag #'s, etc. document it and find out current resell values.

My parents got divorced in 1989. My dad was 39 at the time and told me he'd never marry again and never has. He's 70 now.

About 46-47ish...hot flashes, but extreme mood swings and paranoia, withdrawal from family life and responsibilities, just wanted to party all the time. Fun and easy. All that mattered, but spend like crazy and eat like crazy. And God? Her: "Who is God and who cares?!?" Complete opposite of who I married, just lip service now.

And yeah, if you say the sky is blue, she will call you a liar. If you disagree with her in ANY way you are a JERK. Even if done nicely.

Alimony on the other hand, it's like drawing out of hat what the payor is going to get hit with.

I work with a lady who has bragged about getting $5000/month in alimony checks and will do so for 25 years.

She likes to joke about how she’s staying single until she’s 77 because the money won’t come in if she gets married before then.
