Plano/frisco area is getting crazy. Are you a right winger? Move there to try to balance out all the lefty's moving there.
If you don't make it your business to care about shite like this, you won't ever notice it.

I’m not sure what you are looking for, but I would recommend McKinney of all the places I have lived. The drive to 121/Tollway wouldn’t be bad, the schools are good, and it has a good quality of life.

I’ll be honest, I have lived here for awhile and have no clue where the frick Colleyville is lol
i'm almost 3 years in in McKinney, don't think I've ever even heard the name Colleyville until I saw this thread.

For the OP, given that, I obviously can't speak much on Colleyville, but Plano is fine. But if you're working at that DNT/121 intersection, why Plano? You have a ton of options that are just as good, if not better in McKinney/Frisco/Allen and then other places like Little Elm and The Colony.

The extra driving might suck if traffic is bad but the grief your kids will give you for making them change schools will be far worse.

Not a lot of difference in west Plano and Colleyville. Plano Legacy area is where it's all happening now, though. Crazy growth up there nowadays.

Plano schools have always had a great reputation, fwiw.

Yep. Collin County is to DFW what Orange County is to L.A.

Good news is that I can set my own hours as long as I am in the office for 8 hours a day but I also get to work from home 2 days a week.

then why would you contemplate uprooting everything for such a short drive? I live in Keller and the old lady's office is in Dallas, it's no big deal

I also just got a dream job in Plano and I'll be moving from Dallas proper to that area as soon as my lease is up. I'm not trying to have a 45 minute commute

What part of Dallas do you live? I used to live in the Royal Ln/Preston Rd. area and would commute to Plano near the Tollway/W. Park/Plano Parkway area 3 days a week.

My commute 90% of the time was 15 minutes door to door. I’d hop on the Tollway and zoom pass gridlocked traffic heading in the opposite direction.

Granted, that was 10-15 years ago. You might be overestimating the commute time unless traffic has gotten substantially worse on the Tollway.

Uptown baw. I'll have to use the tollway the whole way. Driving through the Addison clusterfrick will add 10 mins in itself.

Big time money in Colleyville. It’s the rich younger brother of the HEB ISD.

From a 16 year Collin County guy. If your kids are OK moving, then do it. If they have some established roots, do not.

I would not move to Plano and look at Allen, Frisco, McKinney more. You cannot beat the school districts in Collin County though. They have 4 of the top 10 school districts in Texas

https://www.niche.com/k12/search/best-school-districts/s/texas/

Allen has the 2nd best elementary in State and 44th national ranked. Frisco has the 4th and 5th best middle schools in the state.

Collin County has some of the best kids sports (public and club) if they are in to that.

You cannot go wrong moving to Collin County, but do not piss off your family to do it.

I live in Argyle, no way you find housing like you have Plano/Frisco at the price point you are at now. Toll and express lanes make the commute tolerable. Does wife work? If not is saving 20-30 min in the car each way worth if for pissed off wife and moving kids to new school? Plus you get an extra hour of The Ticket

We're in Southlake. Unless you have some ulterior motive for wanting to leave Colleyville, I can't imagine uprooting your kids to move to Plano/Frisco. I get it that they're moving to new schools within the district, but so are all of their friends. Plano/Frisco schools are good, but not to a noticeable degree better than GCISD??

Sounds like the ideal situation, you get your dream shot but have the flexibility to get to stay in a great living situation and not upset the family apple cart. Probably half the workers in the Jethroplex will have equal or worse commutes than yours.

If you're looking for a new situation for kids school issues, maybe that's a different story.

Who would leave Grapevine/Colleyville/Southlake???

So thanks everyone. I think we are gonna stay. I agree with many that question why we would be movIng. The drive won’t be that bad and yes I do get to be home 2 times a week so there is that.
