For Dallas Folks - Opinions Wanted - Move from Colleyville to Plano?

Have been working from home the past 10 years but got a dream job at a firm in Plano, Tx. right near the hotbed of all of that Toyota action(i.e. DNT and 121). I currently live in Colleyville TX which is about a 30-40 minute drive each day both to and from the office. Good news is that I can set my own hours as long as I am in the office for 8 hours a day but I also get to work from home 2 days a week.
I have kids that are in 8th and 5th grade which means they will be moving to a new school at the end of next year.
For those that live in Dallas....should we move to Plano or stay in Colleyville? Right now, we have a nice home, the area is super safe, and the schools are good but we'd be up for moving to Plano if it's worth it.
Thoughts?

I’d rather live in Colleyville than Plano or Frisco but moving to that area for a dream job (pay raise?) would probably be worth it

Play it out for a few months. Commute isn't bad. Especially may not be worth moving your kids if just 3 days a week. Now, if your kids are in need of change of scenery then maybe. Ask their thoughts to see if they wouldnt mind to get away from something like a bully.
Plano/frisco area is getting crazy. Are you a right winger? Move there to try to balance out all the lefty's moving there.
Also, look at homes to see if prices are over inflated.

I live in Southlake for reference. I’d stay put unless you got a big raise to where you can afford an equivalent house in Plano. You have kids in junior high. Why put them through that for a lesser commute? You can easily avoid peak traffic times with that schedule

Get to work at 5 a.m. to avoid traffic, take no lunch, and you're off at 2 p.m..
That leaves some valuable time for hookers and blow before your kids get home.

You don't have to move if you don't want to as the commute isn't bad, but theres plenty of nice areas and plenty to do up that way. As someone else said, stay where you're at for a little while and how you feel about it.

That's technically Frisco, but I would absolutely move near that area. I'm right in the same area and could not ask for a better location. Easy access to most highways, central location to where I need to be, and still a family-friendly area.
JUMP ON IT!

I’m moving that way as soon as this lease is up.
Do it.
Do it.

I have lived in Addison, Frisco, Plano, and McKinney. I have relatives who live in Colleyville. My advice is to gut it out for a while and make the drive before deciding whether to move.
Plano is not the same as the Plano from twenty years ago. The demographics have changed drastically.
I’m not sure what you are looking for, but I would recommend McKinney of all the places I have lived. The drive to 121/Tollway wouldn’t be bad, the schools are good, and it has a good quality of life.

Why not go north of Plano to live, Celina is up the toll way and is really growing. Prosper, Melissa , Anna are also really nice areas. All these areas have top notch schools also
The Colleyville to Plano commute looks like a nightmare.
My office is in McKinney but I only go in once a month if that, we live in Sachse which is east of Plano.

Plano has a very high incidence level of drug use, especially Coke and heroin, among school age kids compared to Colleyville.
I would never move my kids to a Plano ISD school.
If you insist on moving, Flower Mound/Coppell area is a 15 minute dive on 121. Great schools, communities and kids in far less trouble.

Plano is nice......everything you need is within a couple of miles in any direction.

That area is going to be it’s own ‘Mini-plex’ In 10 years. I think it would be a good investment if not anything else.
I’ll be honest, I have lived here for awhile and have no clue where the frick Colleyville is lol

Pilot Point is nice, but people don’t like the drive time

Glad someone mentioned Coppell. I would rather live there with a family than Plano/Frisco as well.
I live in Trophy Club, work in N Irving (where Irving and Coppell meet). The commute isn't bad. Depending on where you're at in Colleyville, driving up to Frisco/Plano 3 times a week wouldn't be awful.
For me it would really depend on how much more $ I'm making at the new job.

I also just got a dream job in Plano and I'll be moving from Dallas proper to that area as soon as my lease is up. I'm not trying to have a 45 minute commute plus new monthly toll bill. Congrats on the job baw

121/SRT North isnt bad in the morning once you get past Grapevine.
