I don't see what all the fuss from golfers are on this, does anyone here actually play city park? I haven't played there since college.

I think it does sound pretty fun, and adding this and frisbee golf to the city layout could add some revenue streams that could really help BREC.

City Park should be for all the people. It should be a focal point and gathering place for the city.

I'd argue that it already is but whatever. The people that I personally know with the strongest push for closing the course never use the park at all.

Sigh.

I'm probably in the minority but I play it about once a week just for practice and for $6 to walk 9 it is more enjoyable to me than the driving range.

We did get some yahoos in jean shorts in front of us last week that were hacking away though.

Also like someone said, hole 5 will be a beast for footgolf.

I'm not against letting people try new things and giving people opportunities for recreation.

BUT, I swear, BREC is the king of adding stupid shite to its parks and does the bare minimum at providing recreational sports leagues for kids in the city.

If BREC is so concerned about people not using their facilities, then why aren't they offering more programming for their facilities?

They just add things, leave it, then wonder why no one uses it.

That was intentional to keep weak minded members of the herd away from an upper echelon sport.

Typical Baton Rougean, drive everywhere. If you live anywhere in Mid City/downtown/campus/old south baton rouge, you shouldn't have to drive 15 minutes to Highland Road Park, which is not easily accessible for pedestrians and cyclists. You have to hop in a car, drive, park, unload, and do it all over again. And yes I have been there, and it's not conducive towards being a gathering spot for the city. It's about the strategic position of City Park. And BREC has too many golf courses anyhow.

OR It was the first public course in Baton Rouge, the least expensive course in Baton rouge, and on the National Historical Registry

"City Park Golf Course was Baton Rouge's first public golf course, and the city's only public course until the mid-1950s. The short, 34-par, nine-hole course was completed in 1926 and officially opened in 1928. "

It's literally the FIRST link on the Google search

Thanks for trying to fix BR once a month, though.
