what would be a natural predator for a snake that large in its natural habitat??

"There are natural predators of the Burmese python, like the tiger and the king cobra." LINK

I'm not sure the prudent tiger goes after a snake that size, but a big 500#-er might have a shot. Seems unlikely, but I wouldn't have believed a jaguar could kill big caiman, until I saw the video.

On Friday night we pulled this BEAST of a snake out of waist-deep water in the middle of the night, deep in the Everglades.

Nope.

I watched this special on the seasonal hunts that the state opens up where people come in and kill these things and Florida pays the rewards per skin. Two guys from India came in with basically a rope, a 5g bucket, and flip flops and fricking cleaned up.

They play with cobra's, I would assume a python would be like comparing a Pitbull to a Chihuahua.

Why not capture these things & relocate them to their natural habitats?

Or, for our personal entertainment, have some Florida Man fun & bait them on some offshore trolling lines. Would be fun to see what ocean predators go after it for a bite...

The big cats get them before they get that big in other parts of the world.

At least lionfish are damn tasty and finally getting some traction as a legit restaurant quality fish.

Had it served as a ceviche and fried strips while in Belize, caught from the reef in front of our resort that day. It was some of the best fish I've ever had.

So what you're saying is... we need to introduce wild tigers to Florida?

I like this idea. I'm excited to be a part of it.

Their natural predators probably do a good job of keeping the average size in check.

Probably not very cost effective to trap them, keep them alive, then fly them all the way to Southeast Asia and transport them to the jungle for a species currently not classified as endangered.
