Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said at a news conference Sunday in Pensacola that interactions among young people are driving the surge in confirmed cases. Meanwhile authorities in Broward County, home to Fort Lauderdale, and Palm Beach County said they would be closing beaches during the busy Fourth of July weekend following the decision of neighboring Miami-Dade County to close theirs between July 3 and July 7.

Of course we leave for the Cape San Blas on Saturday.

you should be good there. it is more of a rural area. stayed there a few years ago and went scalloping in St. Joe's Bay. this was all before Hurricane Michael so no idea what's left out there.

Sounds like certain areas are just trying to avoid huge gatherings on the 4th.

Oh no! Not the young healthy people that won't even need to be hospitalized if they get COVID!

I'm so over this...

Just came back from Cape San Blas and it was wide open at the time. Not very crowded like most of the other panhandle beach destinations.

It's pretty much back to pre-hurricane condition now except for the national park. Michael cut through the peninsula in the state park but that has since filled back in and is now a beautiful white sand beach with both gulf and bayside views. It's a good spot to go kayak now. The road is being rebuilt but the state park past that area is closed still.
There has been a nice park built at the start of 30E since the hurricane.

Was in Franklin County, one county east of CSB, the second week of June. At the time, Franklin had a cumulative total of 2 Covid cases. Probably not much different in Gulf County.

Holy shite you are dumb OP. Miami closed down, it has NOTHING to do with the STATE. NOTHING. This had nothing to do with the Florida Governor, especially officially.

This was the mayor of Miami and is only for 4 days...

I said Florida, some beaches, and specifically quoted the counties that are closing. Didn't say anything about the state or Governor other than the fact it's happening in Florida.
