Daredevil and Flat Earth theorist Michael "Mad Mike" Hughes died Saturday in a rocket crash. Hughes, 64, wanted to prove the Flat Earth theory by taking photographs of the Earth from a homemade rocket.

Any plan that starts and ends with strapping yourself to a rocket cobbled together from bits and bobs in a shed out back cannot be a good plan.

I read about this. Curious why this idiot needed a rocket to try to prove his asinine theory. Seems like a plane would be much more effective.

I figured that dude would be dead soon after I heard about him a few months ago.

I know for a fact this is German. I didn't even have to use the search.

The window you look out of in a plane is curved and provides an illusion that the earth is round

The government sabotaged his rocket so he couldn't prove it!

Must have been an awful feeling for those last few seconds as he was hurtling toward the ground.

He always kept postponing his flights and I don't think any of his rockets were capable of going any higher than a commercial airliner. He could have saved money as well as his own life if he'd have just booked a window seat on Southwest.

Especially since he only planned to go up 5,000 ft. He sounded like an idiot.

The full video shows him augering it all the way in.

Guy is smart enough to make a steam powered rocket, but apparently dumb about everything else.
