I am getting very nervous about my naive as frick family from the mid Atlantic visiting for a week next month. They’re gonna want to go party every night and have a blast.
They’re going to have no concept of sensing the atmosphere and knowing where not to go and how to avoid trouble here. They’re basically used to going where they want when they want at all hours of the day and night and never even worrying about this kind of stuff.
This is easy.
Have them go to Bourbon once and have them start 5 blocks up and not get within 2 blocks of canal.
Then never go to Bourbon, the worst part of NOLA long before all this bs, ever again.
Go to Frenchmen, MidCity, and Uptown.

New Orleans has so many options now.
You can get hit by gunfire on Bourbon, or crushed by a falling hotel on Canal.

Perhaps the Saints can wear anti police names on their helmets to help support tourism...

No offense to you, but those types of people make the best progressives.

And remarkably no mention of the race of the victims or perp from what I could ascertain. So that only leave me to speculation.

quote:This is a lie that I see many people here always repeating. New Orleans in the early 90s was the most dangerous city in the US, and one of the most dangerous in the world, with a crazy number of murders. In '94 they had something like 420+ murders. Now, compare that to last year, where they saw about 195 murders.
Decades ago getting lost was a worry, now you could die in any corner of that shithole at any time.
But at least all the statues are gone.
I'm not saying that to downplay the crime in New Orleans. I say that to say New Orleans has always had a crime problem, especially murders. It may seem like it happens more often now days, but the truth is murders happen now less than half as much as they did in the 90s. I just think it's much more noticeable now because of social media and what may have been something you only saw in local newspapers or the local news in the 90s, now you can see it from anywhere in the world, essentially, with just the click of a mouse.
New Orleans has always been a dangerous city and a shithole. Although, it used to also be a lot more fun than now, which it's currently just a shell of its former self and seemingly a lot more depressing. However, usually if you stay in your lane and also avoid certain areas (especially at 2 am), you'll be ok. The people in those areas are probably more racist than any white person out there, because they've been lied to for generations by politicians which then becomes something passed down in the family and becomes what is thought to be the truth versus actual truth. It does suck this is happening in the quarter and seemingly more often in the tourist destinations more recently, but it's always been dangerous to be white and go into a lot of neighborhoods in New Orleans.
The city once seemed like it had so much potential. However, the poor, lazy people of New Orleans who like their free shite or who think crime isn't a big deal keep voting on the same policies and keep voting in the same type of politicians that keep them in this sick cycle with a feeling of hopelessness while also being told anything they do is not their fault and that certain people are to blame for all their problems. They continue to take no responsibility for their actions. In reality, that city has been dem for forever and it's those policies and politicians that make a city that has the potential to be one of the greatest cities, in the south if not the US, into a shithole.

The tPOS element are licking their chops. Why don’t you try and convince them to reroute their plans and head to a city that isn’t a complete shite hole? There’s plenty of other, nicer cities where your naive family can party without the high risk of being shot to death.
