Five Chimpanzees vs Five Wolves to the death.

Team Wolf all day here. Asked this on another board and couldn't believe people's ideas about chimpanzees. Figured I'd ask here and see if I get the same responses.
OK to clarify I guess I'll have to set the rules.
On the ground. All healthy adults. No time limit. Flat ground. Not confined space.

A mamma elk can fend off 5 wolves.

Depends on the type of wolf. In terms of weight, chimps and gray wolves are about the same, with a slight advantage going to the wolf. This is a toss up, in a 1 on 1 battle between a defensive chimp and a hungry wolf it is difficult to say for sure but I would bet on the wolf because of their legendary endurance, bigger teeth, and stronger jaw. Chimps are extremely strong and could bash the wolf pretty good with overhand blows and grab and pull at the wolf's fur but if the wolf is starving, as the question specifies, I believe he will be persistent and eventually be able to overtake the chimp.
