A fisherman's catch on the Lake Charles lakefront has sparked interest and it may rattle a few nerves. The man caught a juvenile bull shark, the same variety blamed for several deadly attacks. Photos of the shark have been shared on social media sites this week. KPLC asked the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries about the shark. Officials said it is not unheard of for bull sharks to show up this far inland. They do not think there's a danger to swimmers because there is plenty of fish for a bull shark to eat.

Shame. Looks like a great swimming hole to cool off in.

That would be pretty amazing to hook a shark on some random fishing trip in fresh water

Is there a way to tell if it’s a bull shark without looking for it’s penis?

I’m pretty sure there are more fish in the sea than in freshwater and yet shark attacks happen all the time. I also heard that Bull Sharks are very aggressive sharks and will attack anything in its path

All my buddies laughed at me for fishing with sapling. I knew what I was looking for.

Yes. Bull sharks have been caught as far north as St Louis in breeding season. They have a high tolerance for fresh water.

Where exactly was it caught? The Calcasieu river or the Lake Charles lakefront? I’m confused. Is Lake Charles actually fresh water?

Bruh there was 16 total attacks last year. The odds of you getting attacked is miniscule. You damn near have to put your hand in a sharks mouth. I wouldn't say shark attacks happen all the time. I would say the opposite in that it rarely ever happens.
