This is a pretty cool read to burn a few minutes chronicling some internet firsts. First tweet ever, first photo uploaded, first ebay item purchased.
Before the internet was very available, say 1990??, I remember playing a game on compuserve where random letters popped up and you competed against other online players to see how many words you could make with those letters.
I knew then, these people are on to something.

meh, tom clancy was active on GEnie and other mid 1980 BBS dial-ups well before compuserve.
i remember my brother chatting with either Clancy or Crichton for a couple hours late one night on his old AMIGA and some 'exclusive' BBS board he had been given access to.

In 1995, backwhen eBay was called AuctionWeb, its owners set out to test the new website by listing a broken laser pointer for sale. Much to their surprise, the laser pointer was quickly purchased by someone for $14.83. Confused, the owners asked the customer if they knew that the laser was broken. When the customer replied, “I’m a collector of broken laser pointers,” they knew they were onto something big.
WTF?
I laughed at that myself. That was 1995, I wonder what his collection looks like 21 yrs later?
