2 years and some months. Kidney disease, nearly fatal, nephrotic syndrome, on steroids, surgery. 2 story house, I stayed upstairs with a young 20-something aunt. Mom and Dad downstairs. Aunt waited tables at Fridays at Cortana Mall (Fun Fair Park was obviously there), we lived on Evangeline, 70805 circa 1983. 70805 was still blue collar Redemptorist kids and Exxon dads. I went septic and collapsed. Mom and Dad are downstairs, I couldn't cry out. When aunt made it home, I was rushed to Tulane in NOLA because my kidney disease doctor was there.

I remember laying on the bathroom floor. At 2.5 years old. The wallpaper was terrible, yellow and grassy. It made me think of Curious George.

I remember shite in the third person if I go far back enough.

it's so weird. I remember being at some mall and eating red jellybeans while my mom was shopping. And the memory is from the point of view of some third person- and I see myself sitting on that white couch in the clothing store.

Moving into our new house at age 3. Fragmentary memories before that, but that's the first memory I can put a date on.

I was four years old when we dropped the atomic bomb on Japan. I can still remember my grandfather sitting at the table reading the newspaper shaking his head saying "one bomb destroyed a whole city". It scared the hell out of me. I constantly worried about one bomb wiping out Bogalusa.

Oh yeah I do. I remember them bringing in cartoon charterers to my room, dragging around an IV and ordering my first cheeseburger from the fast food establishment in the lobby of the hospital (Burger King, I think).

I remember falling off a ferry boat in the water at about 2. I had been taking swimming lessons that summer and remember looking at the water and thinking...swimming!!

Memory is a weird thing. I can only remember back to age 4 or so, but I can remember being able to remember back to age 1 or 2 when I was a kid. But those memories faded away.

Asking my mom if I could go to school with my older sibs. She said yes (over my head sarcasm) and when we dropped them off and she wouldn't let me out of the car, I cried and cried. Had to be about three ... we moved to a different town when I was three and this was in the town I was born in. I also remember the dress I was wearing. Yellow, with little bitty flowers.

I have a few other memories in that house. Searching for my pacifier and Mom told me a burglar came in and took them all. I must've been way too old to have one, if I could understand the concept.

Also, those memories make my dear mother sound like a liar!
