existing large power system fixed costs, economies of scale in transmission and distribution, and declining unit costs for generation imply that durable demand growth lowers average prices.
It’s already clear this is not how it works, at least in Louisiana. The order of business is to grab monies through expansions/new projects, while ignoring maintenance of existing infrastructure. This inflates bills while providing continually diminishing services to the consumer at greater cost ever year. The PSCs are either slow, crooked or both, and pretty much just rubber stamp whatever the utility companies run past them.
A case study in how this works is Magnolia Water on the north shore. I believe the average user is billed something like $120/month before they even consume a single drop of water. It’s criminal.
Anyone who believes this shite deserves what they’re about to get.

I didn’t read the entire article, but I’d like to know who funded the study. That will tell us all we need to know!
True, but I’d like to see this same skepticism employed against the “studies” that crap on AI and datacenters.

Exactly. Throw the right amount of money at them and you get out of work useless doctorates to line up with mouths open.

There's going to be a lot of pushback on this topic, but the need for data centers have essentially completely destroyed the climate crisis industry and have made tech companies and many others turn to a future of nuclear energy that will certainly lower costs from a supply side massive boost.

You seem to have missed the most important conclusion of the study, which was literally the last sentence of the abstract: "We caution that future supply constraints could reverse the effect."
EXACTLY, there is no excess generation in the United States !

Is this from Pravda

This is BS. The price reductions were from the Trump tax cuts his first term and utilities lowered rates because of it.
