Makes zero sense. A Honda Big Red back in the day went for $3k and could do work. People are idiots now.

If in 1982 I purchased an item for $3,000.00

then in 2025 that same item would cost: $9,993.73

Cumulative rate of inflation: 233.1%

Yes. I don’t keep it parked in the driveway.

I financed mine at 2.0% interest. I see no reason to pay it off early at 2.0%.

I didn’t read the whole thread admittingly but this isn’t computing. How much did you put down?

Ahh I see. You threw away $400

If he put it in the market he actually would have thrown away about 3.3x that much by not financing over the last two years.

I didn’t have that amount of cash sitting around, so for me this is a convenience fee that was amortized over two years, and my opinion well worth it!

Did you pay cash for your house? Your car? Don’t be such a hypocrite, I’m sure you pay interest on some things as well.

You’re probably that guy that spends $10 every day at Starbucks and offers financial advice to everybody else

I got my first credit card since I was a youngster in hopes of financing a roof and/or new air conditioning in the future. I haven’t actually used the card. It’s built my score up.

We essentially only paid $16 a month (for 2 years) to finance a brand new golf cart

So about $10,500 for it. Not worth that for a golf cart. Just can't see any situation where I get $10,500 of use out of a golf cart.

We use ours pretty much daily. Certainly not a "need," but makes going to friends'' houses/pool etc easier. Plus just cruising around is fun.

His comment doesn't really say or mention implicitly that he had the cash to outright buy it.
