Mine gave me a sedative and I woke up after. I would recommend that.

Buy a jock strap and bring it to the procedure. Wear it until you feel normal.

Had mine done in '93. Easy Peasy, in all seriousness.....The ONLY painful part lasted for less than 1/2 of a second when the Doc inserted a needle to make my balls totally numb. All jokes about it aside, it is not bad at all. Just take it easy for a couple days and you'll be fine.

eta: I didn't know they knock you out now for the procedure.....I was awake the whole time but didn't feel a thing.

Rest completely for 3 days

Don’t frick around and do stuff

It’s always the guys that get out of bed and try to do stuff that have baseball sized balls and are in pain

Light duty for a week at least. I was an ironworker at the time I had mine done...... had it on a Friday Afternoon, went back to work the next Monday. I just took it real easy, no climbing or anything.

The next one won’t be yours but the last one wasn’t either.

Just chill out and you will be fine. FroZen peas and a jock work wonders. I was awake the whole time and walked off the table with no issues. I didn’t feel a thing while in surgery but I was awake.

Do whatever the doc tells you. Don't be a macho idiot and go running 4 days after the procedure.

Any advice?

Remember this...the sample you are to carry back to him for testing is NOT supposed to be urine.

Good luck.

The frick? It wasn't that bad. They've gotten really good.

I went Friday afternoon was working again as a PT in the hospital doing normal load of patients. It was nowhere near as bad as hernia surgery with the mesh.

I felt it and smelt it. They had to get a fan I was sweating so bad.

I did a half marathon 2 weeks after with dr's approval. Was fine

2 weeks after that my stem swelled up like a celery stalk. Could not sit in a chair for a week.

For the next year or 2 an on again off again ache in my balls.

10 years later all is well.

Wife went through menopause a couple months after I had it done.

I came home and sat in the recliner. Rotated bags of peas until about 1AM. Then I went to bed. Had almost zero pain the next morning and no swelling. It couldn’t have gone better. I hope you have a similar experience.

Had mine two years ago. They didn’t knock me out. Just the numbing shot to the ballsack. Didn’t feel a thing. A little soreness and discoloration for a few days accompanied with the itching to the sac incision. Good to go in a week or so

Put the bag of peas in a ziploc. Otherwise when they defrost you run the chance of getting pea juice on your balls.

Wear tight fitting underwear or a jock. The only time I hurt was when I got out of bed and gravity took over.

I laid my arse in bed for three days. I wasn’t taking a chance and didn’t have any issues.

Prepare to be on light duty for about a week.

Make sure that the Doctor performing the procedure doesn’t leave part of the cauterizing tool tip inside of your scrotum....resulting in a condition called epididimitis (spelling?)......resulting in a subsequent trip to the ER and a later shower surprise as the strange knot on the scrotum yielded the metal tip. It was a hell of a malpractice that I won’t soon forget. No litigation but certainly some pain and suffering!!

My doctor told me “every patient I’ve had said they’d easily do it again if they could ... but they can’t” - I was surprised how well it went. Yes there’s some pain with the anesthesia but that’s it.

Good luck!

ETA: I got a Valium injection prior to doc staring to snip. Highly recommend.
