and

Light enough to use with one hand, won't break, tons of stunning ability with blunt force trauma even through armor, sharp edges to frick shite up. Shield for defense.

Probably a sword and a bow and arrow. If I were back in those ages I would've spent my entire life to become the best archer and swordsmen I could be.

You'd need crates and crates of ammo to really change anything. One or two battles sure. But when the ammo runs out, you're done. Besides Kevlar doesn't do very well against crossbows or stab wounds- youd need a stab proof vest. Manufacturing new ammo wasn't something Scotland peasants did very well either.

Brave and stupid. There were better ways of fighting wars in that age, that just didn't think outside the box.

...of course I say that with 20/20 hindsight vision, but it's mindboggling that someone said, after witnessing one battle fought in that manner, "Hey lets fight another battle like that."

A lance for an initial long range assault, domed shield and short sword for close up.

Battles like that (at least similar style, open confrontation) were still being fought far later in history than medieval times.

True, but I could probably find one laying around at that point or else carry a smaller shield on my back.

Is that a d20 roll?

Something like this.

Long war hammer gives me reach and can damage an apponent in plate armor. Can puncture with the spear like tip. Hooked on one side for tripping and pulling shields. If someone gets inside your guard you can still attack buy pulling with the hooked side or a reverse thrust with the steel tipped back of the shaft.

Check out some history and you might realize that the Romans were beaten plenty of times, they just had a superior logistics and seemingly unbreakable moral as a people.

They just kept coming.

Plus they used a lot of slaves to take the brunt of deaths.

Probably an axe. They do the most damage per blow when connecting.

Yeah, everyone is the past was stupid.

It was the most dominant form of combat and had evolved over centuries since the invention of the firearm.
