Your cousin a very strong individual. I can’t imagine seeing what he seen and making the decision to stay. Everyone is different but for me and my own sanity. I need a fresh start.

I totally understand and would feel the same way. I’m always surprised when someone does not want a change of scenery after going through a tragic loss.

I have heard you don’t move on. You just move forward.

I die first I tell my wife to sell everything and go live her life

He’s talking about his wife and not his favorite table saw. When someone is obviously going through something it’s best not to be a dick.

Hope this helps you in dealing with your loss and grief. I believe in it myself: John 16:22
22 So with you: Now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy.

Incredible toughness. I hope you keep moving forward. I may have missed it before, but what was her cause of death? If you don’t mind.

Very sorry for the hurt you're going through. Been with my wife now for 23 years. Can't imagine life without her.
Thank you for posting your story. Makes me more appreciative for what I have. Every day we have with our loved ones is a blessing.
Hope you find peace.

Lost my dog two years ago. I couldn't wash his blanket for a year as i still smelled him. And that's just a dog, not a wife

My dad passed June 2. My mom is going through the same thing. My dad made her promise not to sell their house but it is haunted for her. She feels trapped and miserable. I think the lesson here is the second to go has to be the strongest of the two.
That’s interesting, my dad passed in March, and we would love to move my mom in with us on the ranch, but for her leaving the house is leaving her memories of my dad behind and she won’t do that, that was their house.

Staying here in the house is like pulling a band aid off each and every time I am here. The image of finding her dead is burned into my mind. In a way I feel like I am leaving her behind. Since she passed away I have only been in our bedroom a couple of times. But here lately I have found myself just laying in our bed for the last few times before we leave. Just smelling her before her smell is gone forever.
Bro. This is heart wrenching and my worst nightmare. Prayers for you and your family.

I understand. When my mom died unexpectedly in front of me and my dad on Christmas Day in 2019 it scarred me. It took my dad about a year to sleep in their bed again. Every time I visit, I see the exact spot in the kitchen where she dropped and died, out of nowhere. It gets easier, but never goes away. I’ll def be praying for you. Best of luck on this new chapter.

Your chapter isn't closing brother, the story is still being written. Like you said, you just move forward. I'm not sure what you believe in, but my God is right there with you and he and your wife will watch the rest of your days until you meet again. I'm praying for you, don't give up!

I have talked to people that say divorce is worse than a death.
I have no idea and definitely wasn't trying any one-upmanship. Both really suck and I will offer my rosary for you and your wife's soul tomorrow.
After my experience and those who go through things like you, I can't stand those who celebrate their divorce. Those people just piss me off.

The grief never completely goes away, but it does get better and you will learn to manage it. It takes a lot of time though, stay strong. As rough as it seems now, there are good things are waiting just around the corner.

Hang in there . My dad always told me time cures all ills . At 53 he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's , 5 years later he is bedridden . I traveled to visit him every week . Wife told me it was depressing me , I wanted to smother my dad with a pillow . At 63 he finally passed . I was relieved . A once proud and great man was in a bed with diapers on . It crushed me . Stay as strong as you can ..
