With all the back to school talk, just realized how great it is not having kids. Don’t have to worry about picking up or dropping off anyone from school. Can leave and take a spontaneous trip without finding a babysitter. Can go out to eat/drink without a baby sitter. No one to take care of when I get home. Nobody asking me for an allowance.

My oldest is my babysitter and my DD. She also works as a hostess at a popular restaurant we like so when she's working I let her know to go save us our favorite table. ROI may be low on kids but it's not zero.

The feeling you get while watching your kids excel at something, whether it's a spelling bee or a sport, is impossible to explain to adults who weren't hugged enough as kids.
I feel sorry for you now.

Yup.

Like kids, love my little cousins. Happy for everyone that has them. Just not for me right now or in the near future

What's on your bucket list that you can't do with kids?

Of course not. You don't want any distractions from looking at yourself in the mirror.

Maybe, but I don't think it warranted your response. I doubt he meant anything ill towards people who have issues conceiving or have lost children.

He may not have...but maybe that poster is freshly dealing with that loss and more sensitive. Considering recent events for myself...I can certainly understand that feeling. No it doesn't give you the right to lash out to everyone in anger...but sometimes you just can't help it the hurt is so bad.

One of the worst feelings is wanting a child so badly...and it not happening. And then see others so easily have that and take it for granted what you have spent years and thousands and thousands of dollars to try and have as well.

I felt the same way. Even freaked out when my wife told me she was pregnant. But now that I have 2, I find myself wondering how I was happy without kids. Kids are awesome.

His comment is not a reflection on what you're talking about.

Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward. 4 Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children[a] of one's youth. 5 Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them! (Psalm 127)

That’s God talkin, son. Debate settled.

Well the matter is something that’s pretty personal to many.

Very true and it's probably the worst thing that could happen to someone.

You can call OP dumb, immature, naive, etc, but he wasn't being malicious in any way towards people who have lost children.

I'm sorry if you've experienced that struggle or loss. I couldn't imagine it and wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

You are still young. Lots of time for you to still marry and have kids. I didn't want them either, at that age. Didn't start until I was 30.

Many things that involve flying, and as I said, I don’t want to bring a kid on an airplane.

Plus I’m not interested in going to immediately caring for a child after 7 years of Undergrad/grad school. I want to be selfish for a while
