On one hand, you have a bunch of Trump-is-God, the government is a bunch of liars, this Chinese Flu is fake news, open it all up and the hell with the consequences, people.

On the other hand, you have those who are so obidient to the govenrment, who haver never had a private sector job in their life, who have no idea how the economy works, that they are completely willing to shut everything down forever if it saves one 80 year old life, mainly because their government check is still coming.

Meanwhile, there are very, very few people out there who think this shutdown has gone on long enough, but understand this virus is still real, still impacting people, and the only legit way forward is to open things up while taking additional steps to protect those among us who are most vulnerable.

I guess this is the result after years of political fights, race fights, class fights, religions fights, etc. Both sides are extreme, common sense isn't so common.

On one hand I could stay and be your loving man, but the reason I must go is on the other hand.

I don’t think you’re alone, I just think those two extremes are much louder.

I'm here ... 7 people in our facility died with 2 more near the end all from covid ... all had preexisting conditions but still. 48 or 49 positives .. that's overwhelming for the staff who truly did take precautions and had iso units set up.

We still all feel that this has gone on long enough. BUT we're at the same time very sad for our residents and their families.

I think this is how most people feel, but they may lean a little closer to one of the other sides you mentioned and will get labeled as such.

There are a lot more than you realize. They just aren't hanging out on Tigerdroppings and/or listening to talk radio.

I’m fortunate to have a job still but even I am starting to feel the strain of this. I can’t imagine what it would be like to have no money right now. Awful times.

I think/hope this is most people. you just hear the loud obnoxious people more.

You gotta be smart and considerate, but a healthy distrust of the government is not a bad thing.

The echo chamber of the Poli board is spilling over to the OT.

There’s plenty of people in the middle. Just don’t look for them on this site.

I'm fortunate enough that my financial situation is mostly unaffected, and I still want to open up. That said, I also realize that this virus hasn't gone away, and once things open up, it will spike again. People who don't think it will happen are in for a rude awakening. I'd rather take steps to assure that when it does happen, we don't find ourselves in another lockdown. Better two more weeks now than two months in the fall.

Most of this shite is just frustration, and it's understandable

A lot of the people mad today weren't worried this was some constitutional crisis 2 weeks ago

They're just bored and ready to get their lives back, so I wouldn't hold them to it

I think most people you are mistaking for the first group you mentioned actually fall here. I am in the open it up crowd, but am not expecting to be able to go to a concert tomorrow, nor do I think that's a good idea..... I know this virus is real, I know we should be on guard, but the cure has become worse that it

It has been proven over and over that this virus is not that great a threat to younger and middle aged people, so just do what should have been the approach from the start and let people make their own choices on how to proceed. This one rule for everyone approach is terribly misguided.

People who carve out extreme positions and refuse to work toward compromise or to even acknowledge the possibility that another viewpoint may have some merit ARE retards

Sounds like the comments of an intelligent libertarian.

My man, welcome to the club.
