Feds already seeing some results after a few days of "Operation Legend" in Chicago

Three men in Chicago face federal gun crime charges in conjunction with Operation Legend, CBS Chicago reports. According to the U.S. Attorney's Office of the Northern District Of Illinois, they are the first to be charged under the federal initiative.
President Trump and other officials on Wednesday formally announced the deployment of "hundreds" of federal agents to fight crime in Chicago as part of the Trump administration's Operation Legend.
Darryl Collins, 30, of Dolton, is charged with one count of illegal possession of ammunition by a convicted felon. Romeo Holloway, 21, of Chicago, is charged with one count of illegal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Collins and Holloway were previously convicted of criminal felonies and were not lawfully allowed to possess a firearm or ammunition. Darryl Phillips, 22, of Chicago, is charged with one count of illegal possession of a machine gun.
The three are being held in federal custody.
Officials described Operation Legend as "a sustained, systematic and coordinated law enforcement initiative in which federal law enforcement agencies work in conjunction with state and local law enforcement officials to fight violent crime."
The problem in Chicago (and in most left leaning cities) isn't the cops - it's the Soros-backed DA and local judges that put criminals back on the street like the justice system is some revolving door.
Chicago leadership are hard left, but they, but they have been getting a lot of pressure from local residents to do something about the crime. They agreed to allow the feds come in and start working with local cops to push hard core federal charges for violent crime where possible.
Operation Legend has only been underway for a couple of days, but word is getting around quickly.

Lightfoot takes a lot of shots at Trump, but this is an example of both of them being very pragmatic when it comes to dealing with violence.
Future strategies to curb election year violence and riots will probably look a lot like this.

The exact crimes you speak of are also federal offenses. The system fails twice if they're let out quickly.

Lightfoot is probably opposed to the Federals because she’s worried they’ll put her arse in jail.

I’m all for it but damn they arrested one dude for having some ammo, and two guys for illegally possessing one gun each

That dude's going to do at least two and a half years amd up to ten years in federal PMITA prison, depending on if he's got any priors. They tend to not frick around with machine guns.
Even better if this dumbass didn't have an actual functioning machine gun, but just a rifle with a hole drilled in the wrong place.

I don’t get the obsession with Chicago, Per capita it doesn’t have the most murders (I think Monroe is a lot higher lol) but the way some of y’all talk it’s by far the most dangerous city in America and for some reason are hyper obsessed with every murder that takes place.
