We had a FedEx package out for delivery for 4 days.
That damn driver must have been really lost. It’s only 5-8 miles from the FedEx center to our house.

I did almost all of my holiday shopping exclusively online, shipping to all over the south and didn’t have one single issue
I know it’s frustrating but those guys have a literal shite-ton on their plate. Give them a little slack

If some wacko would burn down a couple of those centers in protest they may get the hint. With no injuries of course.

Well no shite. It’s not your personal delivery service.

A local business posted a picture on FB on Christmas Eve, I believe, of waiting in line to get packages she'd mailed from there that never went out to her customers. She'd been trying to get them for a long time. She said, as mentioned, about 20 employees walked off the job at some point. Awful.

as I said before this system works nearly flawlessly during Jan-Oct. the volume of packages during the holidays is beyond the capacity of any one distribution center to process without delay. And it’s not really that surprising as certainly everyone is aware that online shopping and thus shipping is increasing every year exponentially. At some point there has to be some reckoning with the fact that if you are ordering online for Christmas you need to do it before November sales be damned

Everything that I ordered this year came later than expected. You have to assume that almost everything people buy today is from online.

You must work for FedEx.
We haven’t had the same issues with UPS.
Posted on 12/26/24 at 1:34 pm to carhartt
I work for them as a contractor (facilities). UPS has the same issues of volume as does FXG. Just because you didn’t have issues doesn’t mean there aren’t any.
I think we can all agree though the the whining about late packages could certainly have been avoided by simply ordering by November…or going to the damn store and getting it yourself

All you had to say…they compete with USPS for totally incompetent but then, they are staffed by the 13% gang.

Mine has said it was on Conner’s truck since the 22nd. Conner must have quit. I cancelled it again and they’re sending a new one out.

Explain this one to me.
I mailed two small packages USPS Priority Mail on Tuesday Dec 17th. Two packages, same weight, exact same contents, going to the same address (different names addressed to)., labels made at same time, dropped in mail bin inside post office at same time. Both were supposed to be delivered on Saturday Dec 21st. One was delivered on that Saturday, the other, according to tracking is still "in transit" as of today.
How could one be delivered and the other still "in transit"?

Somehow, I received three separate packages, large live fruit trees from California in transit less than four days.
I'm out in a county around Knoxville. Mail delivery was running seven days late. Other deliveries were timely. We know our delivery men, one of them even has permission to hunt on our acreage.
When we were in NOLA, two cooked old Virginia style hams never made it through the post office. I can only guess what might have happened.

FedEx contract worker has been busted for allegedly dumping dozens of packages in the woods to avoid working late.
Latavion Lewis was arrested after a post office in Bonifay, Florida, received several reports of FedEx packages littering the roadside and wooded area during the busiest delivery season of the year.
The contracted worker from Alabama agreed to meet with deputies — and confessed to tossing the packages rather than return them to the FedEx warehouse “due to the late hour” he was working, the sheriff’s office said.

All he had to do was put a code 27 on them, bring them back and try again next day. I worked six days a week with no lunch breaks to get as much delivered as possible.

FedEx tracking system is total shite. It is chaos and it forces customers to lose patience and believe that they are being jacked around.

If a consumer is purposely deceived into thinking their package will be delivered at the advertised time and the delivery service knows that delivery estimate is incorrect, a reasonable person can be pissed at them.
A reasonable person would be able to decide to go to the damn store and get it themselves or make other delivery arrangements had they know two weeks ago the actual real-world delivery estimates.

look in mirror. Now tell me, who controls the volume of delivery packages? You, or FedEx? That’s right, it’s you!
with the type of volume generated by you (and me) during the holidays, delays are inevitable and to be expected. As I told you before, “out for delivery” does not mean you get it that day. In august, yes. Two days before Christmas, no.
would you prefer no information at all? Because way back in the olden days of ground freight (pre internet which I’m certain you remember) there was no tracking, you got it when you got it without prior notice
quit whining

I’m not whining.
My shite got handled.
If a delivery service can’t keep its commitments because it continues to accept more volume, volume that impacts their overall ability to deliver on-time, that’s not the fault of the original customer. He has a contract that is not based on the potential FedEx MIGHT get more busy.
I don’t handle my business that way. I tell customers the truth and then stick to my word.

quote:once again it is not the freight handler creating the volume it is the consumer. The freight handler is under contract to accept that volume but is in no way required to deliver it in X amount of days. This is ground freight (at a very low price) not guaranteed air.
