issuing a preliminary injunction temporarily barring the CDC from enforcing the guidelines.

CDC can't regulate cruises: judge

quote:

Judge Steven Merryday for the Middle District of Florida in his ruling sided with the Sunshine State in its argument that the “CDC’s conditional sailing order and the implementing orders exceed the authority delegated to CDC.”

As a result, Merryday approved Florida’s motion for a preliminary injunction suspending the mandatory guidelines for cruise ships, writing that the CDC is “preliminary enjoined from enforcing against a cruise ship arriving in, within, or departing from a port in Florida the conditional sailing order and the later measures.”

quote:

The cruise industry had previously been under a conditional sailing order issued by the CDC since the end of October, under which cruise lines were required to commit to a phased approach of implementing testing and other safety measures before they could start sailing.

quote:

Merryday wrote in his ruling Friday, “Never has CDC conditioned pratique as extensively and burdensomely as the conditional sailing order; and never has CDC imposed restrictions that have summarily dismissed the effectiveness of state regulation and halted for an extended time an entire multi-billion dollar industry nationwide.”

Friday’s ruling resulted from an April lawsuit filed by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) on behalf of the state against the CDC and Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra

quote:

“The CDC and the Biden Administration concocted a plan to sink the cruise industry, hiding behind bureaucratic delay and lawsuits,” he continued. “Today, we are securing this victory for Florida families, for the cruise industry, and for every state that wants to preserve its rights in the face of unprecedented federal overreach.”

Good. It made zero sense.

And it should be good for the stocks on Monday

What’s funny about this is that people have been flying in airports this whole time. But then would get mad at some restaurant for having indoor dining. Really goes to show you that critical thinking is gone

Can we expect another tearful "impending doom" video from the director of the CDC about this ruling?

I went on a cruise once, years ago. In my experience it is people from land-locked states that are the biggest cruise fans. Some of them have multiple countdown clocks going on their cruise-line profiles for their upcoming cruises.

Their was an older couple that we were seated with for breakfast at our first port stop. We were going over our plans (1 or 2 excursions) and asked what they were doing that day. They said that like always, they were staying on the ship - that it was their favorite time because they had access to all the amenities without all the people. We already had plans for every stop but if I had to do it again

Go figure. The fact that we allowed them such power and authority is bullshite, and it will continue to be proven as time goes on.

I was in agreement until this statement. Everyone wants to be a fricking victim. This is just as bad a victim mentality as the left, yet here we are making a stride in agreement by unifying the two on opposite ends of th spectrum. Everyone's a pussy!

They are definitely going after the cruise industry. The progs in town want them to go away and never return, despite the tax revenue. They tried to put it on the ballot, there is definitely people who want this to occur.

Its no faux mentality. Its real.

I can see that. Sometimes I get trapped in my thought process of wondering why everyone is such a gigantic vagina and victim.

Biden and the CDC did this and it is getting overturned. When someone actually does something to someone there is a victim.

That's different than the regressives democrats making up victims based on skin color.

I get your point but we can't dismiss everything as bullshite victim status when there is actually intentional harm to a victim.

Biden administration is a complete failure at this point and they need to be called out on it as much as possible.

Cruise stocks are at an all time high. Not sure this is going to help. They were planning to cruise in August anyway and cannot just start cruising tomorrow because of this ruling. Is good a judge ruled the CDC has overreached so much.

Have you been paying attention the last 50 years? The Left - through bureaucratic regulation, judicial fiat and executive action - has steadily attacked private property rights and personal freedoms of those they have targeted.
