Why are people getting tested? If you’re sick go to the fricking house and stay home for a few days.

You probably want to know if you have covid since it is highly contagious. So you can stay home from work and its just a sinus infection or something.

My wife has some pretty severe chest congestion right now and her GP didn't even want to see her. He just called some shite in.

It isn't fearmongering if it is an objectively correct report of an actual increase in infection. If the numbers cause you to experience fear, that is your reaction.

Baton Rouge General sent an email urging unvaccinated employees to vaccinate because the new strand is hitting people hard, even those without co-morbidities.

So, this virus is unlike any virus ever in the history of ever and mutates to a more deadly variant?

They are up. Hospitals are starting to pull nurses to cover covid units. Still down massively from the winter, and way below all time highs.

Also, how many more people are now being admitted to the hospital for elective procedures and surgeries for non-life-threatening issues that weren't being admitted this time last year, yet are being lumped into the hospitalization numbers being used to illustrate the current strain on hospitals?

Most hospitals still aren't caught up on everything that was delayed for a year plus.

This is my problem with these health experts saying this. Either this isnt a variant, or they created a virus that is unnatural

Or china released a new virus

Do you even know how viruses spread? It's the unvaccinated morons that are causing this outbreak again.

We definitely have a good number of covids right now in comparison to 3-4 weeks ago where we were down to low single digits at any given time. Think we have 24-25 right now and had to open the floor back up.

5 of the ones we have on caseload right now aren’t here for covid symptoms but had positive tests when in here for other issues. Length of stay is down a lot compared to a year ago.

We only have 2 in ICU and 2 in PCU.

At our peak in south Florida last summer we had up to like 48 here on one day.

You have reps from the Nola Mayoral office literally telling people they should be scared for their lives.

Of course I know how viruses spread. And my argument is that if people have been given a chance to get vaccinated and declined then we shouldn't need continued lockdowns. You could argue that they'll prolong outbreaks and fuel variants, but the data we've seen so far indicates that the vaccines protect pretty well from Delta, and have essentially dropped deaths from the virus to zero.

At this point if you're not vaccinated then you're not concerned, so we open up.
