the % positive has steadily been around 10% for awhile now. they just tested almost 20k people since yesterday. More tests = more positive cases but the % positive isn't really spiking.
They won't mention that in the article.
No, it hasn't. The last time the 7 day rolling average was above 10% was on January 20th. It had been between 3% and 4% for three months straight until a couple weeks ago. The number of tests have been about the same during that entire time. I don't know where you are getting your numbers from.

Since somebody asked for the hospitalization numbers, here they are
Hospitalizations:
July 2- 259
July 7- 348
July 14- 468

Maybe we will finally hear from the ACLU if that happens.

ACLU 100% supports strict lockdowns

We have plenty of data from the UK on the delta strain, and the rate of hospitalization and poor outcomes was absolutely no different than that of other strains

i keep hearing this parroted, but is there actual data to back this claim up?
I have not seen any data, but here is the email BRG sent it's employees.

Over the last several days we have seen a spike in the number of young (under 60) unvaccinated patients admitted to the hospital and the ICU, some of them deteriorating very very quickly. We admitted 7 last night. These patients are both male and female and it seems as if comorbidities are not a factor. This new variant of the virus replicates at a much faster rate once the host is infected. Please reconsider your stance against vaccination. Call Employee Health at ***-**** to set up a vaccination appointment.

That's not great. Almost doubling in 2 weeks, and that was before we saw a rapid increase in cases.
People can deny it all they want but we are going back to another round of Covid Theater.

So the rate of hospital patients increasing is 18/day and 17/day respectively. I’m curious how this trend will continue. In my completely uniformed opinion it will level off in a fe weeks, never approaching March 2020 highs.

The strain currently passing around here may not be the Delta. It could be or it could be another known variant, or it could be an unknown variant.

Everyone on here will brag about what a tough guy they are but are in general following all of the rules.
Oh people will definitely do something. They'll bitch and moan from their keyboard then wear their mask like everyone else.

Society is too spoiled for anything other than that scenario.

no chance, but they'll enforce restrictions long before then.

It will be unvaccinated people who get put on lockdown again, vaccinated people can do whatever they want.
Except enough of the unvaccinated are willing to lie about their choice and not wear a mask, so the restrictions will eventually be imposed on everyone because that's easier than verifying vaccine status.

Yep and as much as that saddens and pisses me off, at least we'll get to see the twitter meltdowns.

If vaccinations work, and overwhelming data says they do, they can't get that high. At that point barely anyone was vaccinated.
Now you have close to 50% of the state vaccinated. The less people that can be effected by the virus the less that it will spread and be hospitalized. There SHOULD be a ceiling on this thing given those that are vaccinated and those with some level of immunity.
Which is why it would be nice if Louisiana wasn't filled with so many anti-vax weirdos, but it is what it is.

I know they won't pay any attention to this, but 1 year ago on 7/1, our rolling 7 day average was 1799. 7/1 of this year (the last date the rolling 7 is updated), we're at 476 cases.
Positivity rate was 12% vs 4%
Hospitalizations: 1362 vs 468
Vents: 142 vs 40
There will continue to be peaks and valleys, depending on a lot of different factors, but we're still way better off than we were a year ago.

Here’s my opinion with the vaccine, I got it, but I was very hesitant to get it. I’m fully vaccinated with all
My others, but this vaccine is still new and has not gone through the full approval of all the other ones I’ve taken. I don’t begrudge someone weighing their risks between what is overwhelmingly a nothing or very mild disease, and a new drug.
The entire premise of rushing the vaccine was to allow people to choose it and open it up. That premise has now been squashed and it seems like the goals of the governments now is to for vaccination on as many people as possible. They may have food reasons (I don’t think it’s some 5G microchip gene altering conspiracy) but damn this virus has close to a 0.1% CFR Overall and even lower for younger people. Why force young people to take what is still an experimental medicine?

I know two guys that did, but they are fine.

And many folks have been exposed and either have natural immunity bolstered by exposure, or had an unnoticeable infection that also provides immunity. Many of these folks have chosen not to get the vaccine*.

Absolutely.

anti-vax weirdos

All of my kids were vaccinated against everything except HPV (and that push came late into my Phase I parenting). I got every shot the Army required/recommended. Being cautious about this so-called "vaccine" isn't weird at all. It is reasonable caution. Everyone's risk/reward analysis is different. I'm not knocking any adult who gets it. If I was 15 to 20 years older? I'd probably get this "shot" (whatever the frick it is).
For now, I'm taking a wait and see approach.

Why are people getting tested? If you’re sick go to the fricking house and stay home for a few days.
