Pseudoephedrine > Phenylephrine
While this is true, pseudoephedrine wires you up pretty bad. I hate the way I feel on it. Have been taking phenylephrine the last few days and can say that it has definitely helped.

In the 80s I could go get something OTC that would fix anything short of cancer/Aids. Now everything is safe and infective.

This is why when I'm sick I go straight to the pharmacist counter, hand them my ID and say "Give me some Sudafed please. The GOOD kind..."

This is true however phenylephrine works for many including myself. It isn't as strong as pseudoephedrine and why I will recommend it to folks that can't tolerate the stronger effects. Its also preferred in some because it doesn't send blood pressure up as much. Whatever, I guess. I'll still recommend it to certain patients regardless of what the FDA states.

Nasal spray for 72 hours then one Sudafed cycle usually knocks out my complete block congestion.
I don't like Sudafed but it obviously works

Sudafed also causes short term impotence, which I learned the hard (soft?) way.

Next thing you know, they'll be telling us this causes dementia like benadryl...

What's in Mucinex? That crap never does a damn thing for me.
It typically has Guaifenesin, which is an expectorant to help with chest congestion. It is also often combined with other active ingredients, sometimes pseudoephedrine (Mucinex D) which works and sometimes Phenylephrine (Mucinex PE) which does not work.

I take Mucinex D when I need a decongestant.
Active Ingredients:
Guaifenesin (600 mg)
Pseudoephedrine HCl (60 mg)
Guaifenesin is an expectorant that loosens mucus in your airways by making it thinner. Pseudoephedrine is a decongestant that relieves stuffy nose.

Rule of thumb with cold medicine is that if you don’t have to show your ID for it, it doesn’t work.

Well i can confirm the shite behind the counter works way better than the shite on the shelves.

FDA panel says common over-the-counter decongestant doesn’t work
Every time I’m congested, I have to use nasal spray to get relief. Pill don’t do shite for me.

Phenylephrine gained popularity in the early 2000s as a replacement for pseudoephedrine, the decongestant used in Sudafed, which was moved behind the pharmacy counter in 2006 in an attempt to curb its misuse as an ingredient to make methamphetamine.
That was such a stupid move. It took an enormous amount of Sudafed to be used to make meth from what I've read. Then too, the Mexican cartels moved right in with "Mexican ice" and a lot more of it.

The patient community requires and deserves medications that treat their symptoms safely and effectively and I don’t believe that this medication does.
I wish this standard extended to everything being pushed on us

Allowing people to take a drug for decades that doesn’t work
It took me four hours to figure out it didn't work, so I resorted to scanning my ID for the good stuff.
But yeah, meth problem go bye bye. Not.
They don't care about patients. They also shitcanned effective asthma inhalers more than 15 years ago, because the propellant damaged the ozone layer.

What would happen if all drugs were legal?

Goddamn, the university research team proved that phenylephrine doesn't work any better than a placebo, and still you guys persist. You're just like the blockheads which thought phenylephrine could be used to create meth, and that's why it's being pulled.

The news outlet notes that the researchers previously pressed the FDA to remove phenylephrine products back in 2007 but the agency rebuffed them.
FDA doin work on behalf of the citizens. As usual.
