They are working on the same sliding scale as these medical supplies you are so worked up about. There is plenty of supply for just about everything with little demand, so prices are falling. Guess what happens when demand rises and supply tightens up? Try not to lose your cool this time

Just thinking this through, the guy may very well be a POS but I'm really not liking the precedence this sets. We all know preppers exits. They invest a lot of time and money into stockpiling supplies in the event of an emergency. If the govt can arrest a guy for "hoarding" masks, they can damn well come in an arrest someone for hoarding food, ammo, water, gloves or anything else they deem essential. Basically the govt is saying prep all you want, but there is no stopping us from taking it in the event of an emergency.

This is an objective lie. I have colleagues across the state who are in fear of being fired for speaking up about the scarcity of... wait for it... N95 masks like this dipshit was hoarding.

Feel free to judge someone who isnt walking into the middle of the petri dish every day. You dont know half as much as you think about this situation.

But preppers are presumably stocking up for personal use, not for resale.

but that's not what Barr implied in his presser. he said if you are hoarding (medical supplies) expect a knock on your door. He didn't qualify it with hoarding for resale.

But how would anyone know you had a huge stockpile if you weren’t calling attention to it by marketing it for sale?

Can somebody explain how you can hoard and price gouge at the same time?

You buy stuff when the public is mocking you and saying that washing your hands is way cooler.

3 weeks pass buy and the sheep hear The truth and you sitting there holding it all. Then the mockers coming to you seeking the goods... you mark them up and the feds swoop in telling you to spread your cheeks asking if you think you are Jeff Bezos

Btw, I'd be willing to bet that hospitals are hoarding their supplies too. Think about it, you haven't been able to find hand sanitizer, lysol, masks, gloves or other disinfectants in at least 3 weeks now as all shipments have been prioritized to the medical industry. By themselves, 3M is churning out upwards of 30+ million masks a month, and there are many many more churning outs masks as well. How is there still a mask shortage with numbers of that scale and the medical community being the priority customer? Are medical facilities greatly increasing their orders and stockpiling their resources in much the same way NYC did with all those ventilators they have stored in a warehouse?

Totally agree and I didn’t think of it in terms of corporate prepping

It’s going to be interesting to see this shake out in cases of confiscation of items that would never have been resold and were held for legit prep purposes.

ETA: I guess I just see it as resale being an easy distinction between prepping and hoarding/gouging.

This is exactly what is happening. They are trying to bridge the gap caused by their lack of preparation by seizing it from individuals who weren't caught unprepared. Essentially you can own 5000 boxes of masks, but in the event of an emergency the FBI is kicking in your door and your cheeks are getting busted

You can’t keep switching back and forth between the economy and masks bruh
