Many dogs take after their "leader" or "owner."
So this says more about you than it does about any breed of dog.

Retrievers (any of them, Labrador, golden, etc)
Boxers
Two breeds that I HIGHLY recommend with families with children
My boxer is the best dog I've ever had... I don't think I've fussed at him in five years... never even really went through a 'puppy phase'... was always a good, well behaved dog

I like my 6month old chocolate. He's lean and fast, and friendly with people and dogs, but confident and not easily spooked.

I like Beagles. They're pretty smart but they usually don't give a damn. Great with kids and you can hunt with them. Good all around Dog that's not huge.
Labs are awesome too. I just don't have the room for one to be comfortable.

I have never heard smart and beagle used in the same sentence.

Yellow lab.
Currently have a black lab and a dox because I am apparently paying for something I did in a prior life.

Beagles. Loyal, friendly, handsome, smart, great with kids, laid back yet love to play

Terrier hound mixes - medium size dogs with the good nature of the hound but the get it done attitude of a terrier in a 25-45 lb package

I'm pretty partial to my current mutt, but my border collie was the best dog ever, so I'll go with that.
I'll have another one at some point.
Grew up with springers. They're gorgeous but quite "special"
