Am I the only one who did not like the Karam guy for marketing.
Was this the fat guy with a foreign accent that sounded like he had downs?
No it's the same Karam that everyone is talking about being their favorite teacher. Like 55, thin and is soft soft a breeze would blow him over.

Sorry you failed Western Civ 1001. Maybe you caught him at a bad time in life or something, but "uninterested in teaching" is something I would have never thought to hear in reference to Dr. Roider.
Dude would get so animated in class he'd get nose bleeds.
After perusing the thread, kind of surprised not see a mention of Kevin Cope. I wouldn't say he was bad, but certainly a blowhard, and my least favorite professor.

Yeah, I was an ISDS major as well, and the department on the whole was pretty solid. Borne, Hutchison, Cannazaro and Houston were all good and rather knowledgeable. Least favorite in the department was Sonja Wiley-Patton. Seemed absolutely aloof at times. I remember I had her class when Obamacare passed, and she took a few minutes in class to talk about how that bullshite was good for America, and how no one should be deprived of healthcare. It was totally inappropriate.
Completely agree with all of this. There were some high quality profs in ISDS during my time. Borne, Catanzaro, both Hutchinsons, Terry Landry, Schwartz. And yes, Patton was easily the worst and it was a complete farce that she had the capstone class during my time. I'm glad to hear that Borne is now doing it.

ive seen this guy mentioned quite a few times. i dont really remember him being some great teacher.
is it just because he was really easy and everyone had copies of the previous tests that he just reprinted every year?

A lot of the answers for worst here are in Econ, and part of that is because Econ is one of those subjects that some students simply cant grasp.
Econ material isn't straight memorization, but people skip class like its easy to pick up in a night or two.

I never had any of the previous test for him. The classes were just fun and entertaining. In Marriage and Family class more so than the Sociology class, he would as the class random questions about certain issues. The response would be funny as shite. One that comes to mind was about letting your 2 or 3 yo son dress as a pink power ranger for Halloween.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Carolyn Jacobs; that bitch that taught statics. I've never met a student that liked her.
Favorite:
Chem - J. Hop
Physics - Ray Chastain
Hated:
Circuits- Mark Rabalais - complete arse often had errors on test answer key
Statics - Jacobs
This. I took Rabalais the semester that half the class failed his first exam (myself included). He decided to give a multiple choice second test (which I got a B) which had 3 questions that were answered incorrectly. The final was the same (got a C). I finished with a 69.7% in the class and he wouldn't round it up. My only college D. Good thing I didn't need a C for my Civil degree.
Best was Lyman Hunt. He was really cool and we talked about hockey a lot (he's from Pennsylvania). Wish I could have taken a few more of his classes.

My least favorite was a Chinese guy that taught Calculus II (MATH 1052). I don't mind foreign professors but I couldn't understand a word he said. I should have dropped it but that would have set me back a semester so I tried to gut it out and flunked it anyway. Took it the next semester and made an A. Another that I didn't care for was Alan Marshak. Massive Napoleon complex. He screamed at a lab team like a drill instructor for not being able to get a stable display on their oscilloscopes one time. Ended up becoming EE dept. head.
Favorite was David Johnson. Taught linear systems, filter design, etc. in the EE dept. Told great stories about running whiskey in dry N. La. when he was a kid. Very approachable and friendly. Got along great with him. Another one I liked was a graduate instructor in the Computer Science dept. I don't remember his name but he was doing a PhD dissertation on the no-op instruction. Weirdo but very cool.

He's at least 60. He's been a professor at LSU since the early-to-mid 80's.

I'm an EE major and had Rabalais for EE circuits II, he went over the final after we took it and got most of his own questions wrong
we had an AC analysis question with a voltage source, a series resistance with the voltage source, and a couple of loads tied to that resistor with some AC power/current values, on his solution after he said voltage on the load side was higher than the source side (if you have taken a circuits class you know that voltage DROPS across a resistor)
he gave me an A though

I had both Sauley and Karam back in the day and they were both great, but they are the cliche answers for the best LSU professors.
One time I had to makeup an exam for Sauley and I got an 88, he graded it right there and said he expected better from me.

Worst - Gittings, microecon. I hated that frickface...the textbook we used for the course was the honors college textbook, yet we didn't get credit for honors class. He barely rounded the tests if at all.
Best - Outland, History

Wong was such a horrible teacher. This dude would walk into class, turn his back on the auditorium and just write notes on the board for 1.5 hrs, not field any questions, and then give impossible homework and tests. I scored about a 15% on the first test in Thermo and I had pages and pages of work done. Worst class of my life.
My experience exactly. I remember my first test I got a 27, and the class average was a 34. The class size dwindled sharply after he reminded everyone there was no curve.

Paskoff was a very interesting professor. I had him for the American History:Revolution to Civil War class. He would just get uo there and make history interesting. I didnt do to well in the class though. I dont think I ever missed lass and I dont think I daydreamed or goofed off during his lectures. Can't say that for many teachers.

I TA'ed for Rob Outland back in 2001-2002. He is a great lecturer and was easy to work with.
My favorite professor was Miles Richardson, Anthropology.
Least favorite was Bill Pinar.
