re: Pilots in: What are your thoughts of the Icon A5? - AlaskanLSUfan on 8/12/18 at 10:18 am
I read an article in AOPA magazine about a year ago on it. Really cool/compact plane, but requires that you’re dual rated (SEL and SES). ...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)

Nature places in La - AlaskanLSUfan on 1/20/18 at 4:42 pm
Hello all, I have some family coming in town next weekend and they expressed interest in seeing some cool nature places in the NO area. Aside from swamp tours or the Barataria boardwalk, are there some cool/interesting places to visit? ...

re: Do you think you could fly a plane with no formal training? A helicopter? - AlaskanLSUfan on 10/26/17 at 3:55 pm
I have a private pilot’s license and grew up around aviation. The concept of fixed wing is being able to understand that power (or throttle) and pitch contribute to flying the aircraft. If you understand balancing those then flying is a piece of cake and you should have plenty of time to react if so...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
re: Is Alaska really as bad of a sausage fest as ive been told? - AlaskanLSUfan on 9/21/17 at 10:18 pm
Yep, hence why I came down here for college and didn't leave after. I'd like to move back, but don't know if that'll happen with my lady. ...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (2)
re: Anyone worried about BYU's offensive line and defense - dirty play? - AlaskanLSUfan on 7/31/17 at 2:52 pm
I'm more worried about their lines having 'old man strength' since they're on average like 6-7 years older than our linemen ...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
Reinstall router with new modem - AlaskanLSUfan on 7/18/17 at 3:24 pm
Hello all, So my modem crapped out Sunday (just in time for GoT) and I purchased a new one Monday and installed and got it up and running. I have a fairly new Netgear 6400 router that was working fine with the previous modem, but for some reason doesn't broadcast the signal with the new modem. Th...

re: OT engineers: how early did you start studying for the PE? - AlaskanLSUfan on 6/28/17 at 10:14 am
I took it in Oct 2016 (didn't pass) and April 2017. I did just testmasters for the October exam and did a bunch of practice tests for the April version and that made the difference. I'd suggest doing testmasters and practice tests at least 2-3 months out with a study schedule set for the various to...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)

I was Geotech as well. Didn't pass last year but was close. Felt like they're making the afternoon portion more conceptional question based, so glad I don't have to try it again haha. ...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
re: The most airplane you can buy for $225,000 - AlaskanLSUfan on 5/13/17 at 5:30 pm
Depends on what you're looking for. Are you looking for a tricked out STOL (short takeoff/landing) plane? Or one for more passengers/conventional Cessna/Piper etc? ...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
re: Recommendation on the best place to get your pilots license in BR? - AlaskanLSUfan on 12/2/16 at 11:49 pm
I finished up at Flight Academy of New Orleans. I would recommend doing Part 141 training if you didn't grow up around aviation (I did). It's pretty structured and is probably best for private pilots training. Are you looking for just a private license or instrument/commercial? ...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (2)
re: Recommendation on the best place to get your pilots license in BR? - AlaskanLSUfan on 12/2/16 at 9:58 pm
I used to fly with Baton Rouge Flight Instruction, but I believe they folded a couple years ago. I finished my private pilot's license in Nola. ...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (1)
