I don't.
I didn't at first, then I was tired of being loudly masked shamed by Karens and soy cucks out in public, so just to get them off my back I started to wear them only when required.
But then I realized, be the change you want to be.
I stopped wearing masks. Even in stores that require them. If I get asked to leave(very rarely), I just say OK and walk out without buying anything.
I still get masked shamed by Karens and soy cucks, but the main difference from 8 months ago, and today, is that 8 months ago, others would join in and amplify the mask shaming. Today, no one joins in the shaming circle.
The one thing that still drives me nuts is when I get masked shamed for not wearing a mask outside. You have to be ultimate soy to mask shame people for not wearing masks outside.

If by " top infectious disease expert" you mean "top jackass who pulls statements out of his arse to justify restricting freedom," then you are correct. There are other infectious disease experts (who probably know a Hell of a lot more than Fauci) who say the opposite of Dr. Fraud, but they're silenced by Big Media and Big Tech. Fauci's schtick plays in to Democratic fearmongering and draconian restrictions, so he's elevated beyond his paygrade.

Unfortunately he’s also the only guy Biden listens to when it comes to this.... well that and the teacher’s unions, the leaders of which should be in prison for child abuse.
