They're polar opposite situations, but kind of the same in that way.

She's disgusting by my standards. Sexist or whatever. I don't care. When the front of your thighs look like jello jigglers and you have a pussy flap for a stomach, you're disgusting.

And I'm sorry. I try to be progressive. But there's a point where something is just aesthetically unappealing. Maybe it's an ugly shade of paint. Maybe it's a yard that hasn't been kept up. Maybe it's your body that looks like a fricking pudding pop that's melting. I can still value you as a person and think you're godawful to look at. Although to be honest, if you insist upon showing me that horrifying image I probably won't value you as a person because you're so incredibly offensive.

I really wanted to attach this gif, but I thought it might be too far/might seem like I appreciate it

Deal with it. I'm sure you do things that others don't like.

Because I don't think this lifestyle should be rewarded, nor are her actions "heroic" or "courageous".

Most people don't think being fat should be rewarded, but fat people do not need constant ridicule from people like you.

Because thanks to Obamacare, I will get to pay for all her fat-induced illnesses: the diabetes, the knee replacement, the heart attack, the high blood pressure and all the medicines it costs to treat these issues.

They pay into the system also and they will probably die young. Will people be bitching about paying for your health costs when you are 80 and in a nursing home?

I have never been fat and always been in good shape because my parents taught me about nutrition, exercise, and the importance of being active and playing sports from a young age.

However, as someone who had substance abuse issues, I sympathize with their struggle. Unlike drug addicts, alcoholics, compulsive gamblers, etc. obese people wear their vice so publicly for everyone to see.

It really has become a stupid world. I mean, I really don't give two shits if she wants to wear a bikini. Fine. Be comfortable with yourself.

The stupidity is, we have literally come to not only support people who aren't necessarily excelling in an area(in this case fitness) but we actually demonize those that are!! THAT is where shite gets weird.

Some mom posts a pic of her awesome body after having children and she gets absolutely vilified. But then, fatty posts her pic and she's awesome???

WTF? It's one thing to tell people, "hey, don't think you're a shitty human just because you don't have a great body". It's quite another to act like working hard and achieving something is a BAD thing while failing to work at that thing is noble.

And there it is. Most fat people have an excuse.

If you are physically unable to do something, it's not an excuse.

Listen, I couldn't imagine being fat and would never choose that lifestyle, as I value my body and appearance.

However, the hate they receive on this board is ridiculous. They are people with problems just like you and I, it's just that their problem is so visible.

It was sarcasm. Bulimics throw up, anorexic people don't.

Medicine/Science is pretty good at keeping people alive at this point. Being in shape would certainly reduce health care visits/costs over a lifetime on average.

True, but I don't think this person would be criticized if she wasn't 1) Mentally insane and 2) Trying to better her lifestyle.

If she had lost 75 pounds and still looked like that in a bikini, she would be applauded by the majority of the population. That is what the word "courageous" should be used for. Admitting you have a problem and doing something to change it.

And gross

and fixable

and life threatening

and costly to the public

It's not like they have untreatable cancer. Eat less move more. Live on a caloric deficit and your problem can be fixed.

Do you want to celebrate the way a methhead looks too?

Fat people have a severe issue, it shouldn't be celebrated as "brave" for giving up on trying to correct it.

I know mocking doesn't help either, but they should be told to seek help just like any alcoholic/drug addict/etc instead of celebrated.
