the girl in the picture is probably the first to comment on a girl that is "crackhead" skinny.

Someone that understands that fat chicks should not be in a bikini.

Bikini's and swimsuits are for people that are not fat, sorry.

Oh I see. I'm the vacuous one?

Someone posts a picture of some overweight girl in a bikini so that the masses on the OT can line up to ridicule and express their disgust, yet I'M the vacuous one for pointing out how shallow you all are?

I think my question is being answered regarding the ability of shallow people to check themselves and recover a sense of humanity. Not easily, it seems.

Read my post again. Slowly.

And if you don't think she posted the pic because she knew she didn't belong in a bikini and she'd get negative attention, then you're naive also.

She's a fat girl and she needs to lose weight.

Yes, so what?

That doesn't mean she's not courageous for enjoying herself at the beach in a modest bikini swim suit, all the while exposing herself to extreme ridicule as is portrayed on this board on a daily basis.

That would be fine if she recognized that she needs to lose weight, however:

quote:

Me: I’m going to wear a bikini this year!

Person: Oh, good for you! Are you doing Weight Watchers?

Me: No, I said I’m going to be wearing a bikini. I didn’t say I was dieting.

Person: *face melts off like the idea of my fatness in a two-piece is the equivalent of staring into the Arc of The Covenant.*

So her goal isn't to get healthier and lose weight. She seems to think she is fine the way she is

quote:

“No one I had the above conversation with had the audacity to tell me directly that I shouldn't wear a bikini because my fatness would offend their eyes,” Trout writes. “Not one person would admit that they didn't want me to wear a bikini because of their aesthetic preference — a preference that is shaped by our cultural perceptions of what is and isn't beautiful.”

quote:

"Final solution" for the fatties, eh ClientNumber9?

Wow

quote:

“As a society, we need to be more honest in our discussions of others' bodies. If we can't avoid those totally unnecessary conversations, then we should at least admit the truth to ourselves: That this has nothing to do with health, and everything to do with the control we believe is our right to exert over others.” Amen to that, sister.

She's delusional and needs to admit the truth to herself

quote:

Her weight didn’t go up much until she became pregnant with her first child (a son who's now 11), gaining 75 pounds that she had trouble shedding, particularly after developing fibromyalgia, which left her unable to exercise.

Excuses. She doesn't want to diet and "can't" exercise. She can be at a perfectly healthy weight without any exercise and healthy with minimal. We're supposed to applaud her for going out in a bikini? Why?

That picture was taken from a higher angle.

She's a blogger so I am sure she is loving the attention regardless.

From her twitter:

Yea, it has nothing to do with the obesity epidemic. Or that we are all connected now with the way healthcare is going.

Nope. Nothing at all.

Who knew fat people were also anti-science.

Guess they just couldn't stomach it.

gaining 75 pounds that she had trouble shedding
That is nuts. 75 lbs is 34 kgs. The recommended weight gain for someone who is underweight during pregnancy is half of that.

Gaining a lot of weight during pregnancy is also bad for the child.

Her article on Jennifer Lawrence is just absurd:

quote:

When Jennifer Lawrence says it's "dumb" to go hungry to make other people happy, she's saying it with the carefree attitude of a woman who probably will never have to make that choice to conform. Yes, she'll be asked to diet for a role, and she feels the same pressure to meet cultural expectations as everyone else. But a woman who looks like Jennifer Lawrence doesn't have to shop for her clothes in online stores because no physical storefronts carry her size. A woman who looks like Jennifer Lawrence probably isn't going to have a stranger try to stage an impromptu intervention in a Pizza Hut because they're so, so concerned for her "health." If a woman who looks like Jennifer Lawrence goes to her doctor to complain of an ailment, she'll be offered diagnostic tests instead of a diet plan. Jennifer Lawrence can say it's "dumb" to go on a diet, but Jennifer Lawrence might not be facing weight-related prejudice or illness. Jennifer Lawrence may never be forced to make the choice between going hungry to lose weight versus having a knee and hip replacement at 35.

My favorite claim is when people try to claim that doctors are out to get them or biased. The reason they are giving you a diet plan is because your unhealthy weight is the biggest risk to your life

quote:

Imagine if Melissa McCarthy had made so many public comments about food and McDonald's. It wouldn't be cute or funny, it would be schtick. Look at the fat woman, being human and hungry for something bad for her! How grotesquely humorous it is when fat people eat! When Jennifer Lawrence makes these comments, it's acceptable, because her body is still pleasing to our cultural expectation of voluptuous, slim-waisted, long-necked female beauty.

It isn't that she doesn't understand, it's that she refuses to accept it. It is a defense mechanism. These individuals are like hardcore feminists. They pick their position and then go to the extreme with it.

She will ignore any evidence because it counters her already firmly held beliefs.

It's just sad at times. The amount of problems being obese causes doesn't seem to convince these individuals to change.

And we cater to these ideas that it is alright.

It isn't.

This really is an epidemic.

I don't care if she wears a bikini or not. It's just not "courageous" or awesome or anything. It is what it is.

Mindy Kaling is someone more realistic. The whole courageous thing reminded me of this interview she had on Jimmy Kimmel Live

Reminds me of quite a few people in politics.

Maybe they 'll rethink things through when they go "oh shite! Son of a bitch! This heart attack nearly killed me! That was painful as frick! Maybe the doctor has a point about my weight?"

Yeah.

That's pretty funny And I agree, it's not fricking courageous. It's all for attention.
