Period.
Scruffy’s elementary school would not allow you to bring junk food as a snack.
That is always a good rule to have, but it all starts at home.

You're mixing up people's arguments. Pecker didn't suggest that, at least in the last few pages.
Regardless. Diet is what is most important for losing weight and maintaining weight loss. It's not even close.

likely, but that just illustrates the point of this thread (i think)...my mother taught me good manners so i would never be purposefully cruel to an overweight person face to face, but that does not mean that obesity should be accepted or celebrated.

Possibly. I thought it was him or he agreed with the post. My apologies if so.
ETA: It was Powerman I responded to, not Pecker. My apologies.

I'm not disagreeing here. I'm not saying if he just goes and burns 500 calories at the gym he can eat whatever he wants. My point is to his 2000 calorie a day diet. If he sticks to that and burns 400-500 calories 4 days a week walking/running/eliptical or whatever, he'll lose weight. For people that don't know much about macros and everything, that is a pretty simple check list to manage and goals to go for.
ETA: if that is too much, drop it to 300 for a while. That would still be net 1700 calories in a day which at that weight would lose lbs.

Are you 6’5” or taller? If not you shouldn’t weigh anywhere near 215-220.

Did I say they would have the same experience? No. That doesn't mean it doesn't need to be a part of it. Cut it back to 250 calories at the gym 4 days a week.
Cutting out all fruit like y'all were talking about is just a stupid suggestion. That is not a long term solution.
I think “let’s get morbidly obese people into the gym” is dumb meme. There are stages to this thing that people ignore when they tell landwhales to burn 400 calories at the gym in addition to going cold turkey on junk food and eating clean. You have fatties leaving the gym after doing strenuous exercise (as far as their hearts are concerned) and going home hungry and depleted, and then we tell them to stick to a diet they’ve never been successful at.
Very few people have that ability. It’s why very few people are successful. They need to start with the basics like not drinking sugar and not eating fast food. Then you can get them on a workout plan and a more detailed meal plan when they drop a few pounds and gain confidence. They’re a psychological component that goes ignored by telling them to get their fat asses on a treadmill.

I am neither a fat bastard nor a skinny frick. I weigh 240. I should probably weigh 215-220. I should go to the gym more often. But I don't understand where all the hate is coming from with you skinny bastards towards our portly peers. I mean, its quite vicious. I do take issue with parents raising obese kids. My kids are both in great shape and very active. But I may have to send my oldest to meet a couple of you self-righteous douche bags at Sonic. He takes Jujistsu and MMA. And he is kind, sensitive and considerate to everyone he meets. But he's gonna frick you angry, self-righteous, small-waisted bastards up. Take it from the guy who left the cucumber in the closet and chill the frick out and get over yourselves
Also, be aware that the younger generation is highly cynical, conservative, and individualistic.
They agree with the mentality of this thread more than you know.

OK LNCHBOX. I'm driving to the coast thursday for Labor day weekend. From Little Rock. Tell me where you are. I will stop in and whip your arse at the Sonic. Or we can find a gym, where i can whip your arse in hoops. You belong to a country club? We can go there and I will frick you up in tennis and/or distance swimming. Let's see how good of shape you're in. If 240 is fat, you should have no problems.
Pay attention fatasses. I'm doing this for all of you.

Lol, some of you are so full of shite. I bet most of you have never been more than 30 pounds over what is considered your ideal weight.
I have been more than 30 pounds over what I consider to be my ideal weight. I'm 5'9" and, at one point in my life, I was a few pounds south of 200, 30+ pounds over my ideal weight.
I really don't see the point in fat-shaming anyone because, what good is it going to do? They already know their overweight and, if that's the lifestyle they have chosen, what concern of it is mine? Sometimes I think that people need to be more concerned about what's going on in their lives than the life of others.
Posted on 8/23/18 at 9:40 am to NATidefan

it's easier for some to keep weight off and build muscle mass than others.
It absolutely is. All of this is driven by chemicals in our bodies. We all have these chemicals in different ratios. What we eat affects these chemicals differently. You absolutely had/have friends that can eat more bad things than you can and it doesn’t affect them the same as you. Anyone who boils it down to calories is ignorant.
What you want to do is raise your metabolic rate. You do that is a couple ways:
1. Feed your anabolic hormones. These instruct your body what to do with calories.
2. Avoid foods that lower anabolic hormones.
3, Eat whole foods that are nutrient dense, high fiber/fat/protein and slowly digested. Don’t worry about counting calories for a while. Don’t eat fruit, grains or sugar, but rather a lot of fish, some grass-fed beef and dark chicken, leafy greens (kale, spinach, anything dark green) broccoli, asparagus avacados etc and LOTS of healthy oils (avacado, olive, coconut, algae *my favorite). Healthy fat is your friend. Don’t worry, you’ll get plenty of vitamins, though an organic whole-food multi-vitamin is never a bad idea.
4. Increase your activity - Get a standing desk or if you insist on sitting, buy something for leg exercise that you can do sitting down. Heavy resistance training of large muscle groups (squats is the #1 hormone booster) 2x a week gives big pulses of anabolic hormones. Alternating HIIT resistance traning of of a couple large muscle groups could be completed in less than an hour. Do HIIT cardio 2x a week. It takes 20-25 minutes, so lack of time is not an excuse.
5. Try intermittent fasting and eat all your meals in a 10-hour window at first and work down to an 8-hour window. Eating slower metabolizing food makes this much more manageable. Many people think this is the best way to lose fat. It is one way, though I’m not sure it’s the best way. I know dieticians that put their clients of a high-frequency meal plan (every 2.5 to 3 hours) with fantastic results. Intermittent fasting is very good for your hormones due to far less insulin spikes and is more fool-proof than the frequent eating method, which requires oversight by someone with deep knowledge.
6. Prebiotics and Probiotics. You may have had a gut issue your entire life. Like our hormonal balance, our gut biomes form early and vary greatly from person to person. These bacteria play a huge role in what we absorb and secrete how we metabolize and have a role in regulating many of our systems.
