I knew a couple (don't see them much anymore) who seemed pretty solidly in love. Then she made some joke in front of a few of us about how sex with him was a chore, and you could kind of see a change in his face. It was almost like a Joe Pesci "funny-like-a-clown" moment except Joe wasn't joking.

I think it was probably just some stupid throwaway line to her, and she'd probably just watched too much TV as a kid, where that kind of thing is funny, but I the marriage didn't last 90 days after that. They had three kids, the oldest finishing up high school and the youngest in Pre-K. Both college graduates, maybe even grad school.

There’s a 20 year old listed as divorced on a dating site. I thought it was a mistake but nope turns out she was married about 6 months.

No red flags there

Many as a result of the deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. Church going dutiful officers with kids.
Sometimes there was infidelity but sometimes it was just the stress of the whole thing.

An ex lasted less than a year with her husband (guy she dated after me). They dated, married, and divorced before my wife and I even got engaged (we started dating around the same time as them). They are pretty much trash cans, so I don’t know if that counts.

An acquaintance that I know married and divorced a guy after about 2 years, don’t know the story around that. They had dated long distance through college.

None of my actual friends have been divorced.

Seems to follow the typical divorce trend for otherwise successful couples. Lovey dovey pics, "so grateful for this man/woman this [insert holiday],"

People who “loud cap” their love over social media are usually the most likely to get divorced.

About 8 or 9 years ago (or so) a guy I went to high school with got married to a girl. Maybe three weeks later, he starts making Facebook posts about how his wife wouldn't have sex with him. He'd whine very publicly about how they waited for marriage to have sex. He said they didn't have sex on their wedding night. He said she was too tired. He said they had sex once on their honeymoon, and then she wasn't feeling well. Then they didn't have sex at all when they got back from the honeymoon.

The majority of the comments to the guy were about going to see a counselor and keeping his marriage problems off of Facebook.

He didn't listen.

After two weeks of posting about how his wife was getting pissed at him for posting on Facebook and how they weren't having sex, he posted he filed for divorce.

People were pissed AT HIM for giving up on their marriage so quickly.

It was fascinating. That's why it really stuck with me all these years. Not just that it was crazy to see someone be that open about his marriage problems, but the fact that literally everyone was blasting HIM for divorcing his wife who would not have sex with the guy.

Anyways, that was 5 or so weeks after their wedding day and they did end up divorced.

I've seen a couple last less than a year. Both when one of the parties remarried in haste after a divorce.

Five weeks.

Friends sister.

OT 7.87. Married to an offshore diver.

Y’all know the story. Bad weather. Diver came in early.

Caught her and Jody “in flagrante delicto”.(fricking, observed penetration)

Marriage over. Big over the top wedding too.

Wish she would have given me some

Friend married a seemingly normal girl. We all got a long with her and thought she was great. 10 months after marriage they had a kid. 14 months after marriage they were separated. She had serious postpartum depression that absolutely wrecked the marriage. My friend has still never recovered from it. He tried everything to get her help and she decided to go scorched earth. I'm not totally blaming her because postpartum depression can be a bitch. I also think she had some underlying issues prior to that. 20/20 hindsight and all that good stuff.

Yeah, a couple of co-workers have similar stories where the woman was by all accounts cool and turned into a raging whore after postpartum depression. Just absolutely nothing you can do.

Have a niece that met this guy on some missionary thing where you travel the world for a year. They got married afterward and moved to his hometown in nowhere Iowa. She was back home in Atlanta two months later getting a divorce.
