Fastest ways to get hardened snow off your windshield?

Have somewhere I need to be pretty soon and definitely did not anticipate hard ice on the windshield being incredibly difficult.
What works for you?
Oh and I'm stunned I'm seriously asking this question while living in South Louisiana.

Water hose, then windshield wipers.
Also, turn car on and use defrost.
Eta - found a pic of OP.

Fastest way would be a hammer from your garage straight through your windshield.
Me, because I’m almost always inevitably late for work when it frosts, I pull some kind of plastic, non financial card out of my wallet and scrape it off. Old hotel key, MARTA card, etc
ETA. For serious Ice i don’t know.

It's mind boggling a grown arse man doesn't know how to get ice off his windshield. And he uses living in south Louisiana as an excuse.

Turn on vehicle.
Run defrost/heat split full blast.
If you have heated seats, turn them on.
Turn on rear defroster.
Essentially, get the cabin as warm/hot as possible and it will make getting the ice off easier.

Yeah slight problem with that being I can't get into my truck now. Ice must've done something to the door locks.
2015 Silverado btw.

Well, I wouldn't worry about the windshield until you take care of this problem first.
You had all day yesterday to wipe off the slushy snow, but you wait til it freezes up early this morning.
You don't deserve a carport.

really? you dont know what to use to get rid off snow on windshield
How about this thing?

i used it every morning in -30 deg weather to remove the ice off my windshield.
Now I have a heated garage (brag)
BTW, it gets the job done every morning
