Family of 12 year old Huntsville boy says their goodbyes - flu complications

I can not fricking imagine. 
Keep this family in your prayers. Reading this makes me sad in ways I couldn't imagine before becoming a parent.

Aaron Masterson, a student at Huntsville Junior High, passed away on Monday night. The Rev. John Mullaney of Monte Sano Methodist Church met with Aaron and his family on Sunday. On Tuesday, Mullaney said, “His family said their final goodbyes around midnight. He was wheeled into the organ donation center and is finally at peace.”

That sucks. Had a guy in my office die from the Flu a few years back. Perfectly healthy on Wednesday and then dead a week later.

That’s rough. I read that 20% of the kids that died got the flu shot. What else can you do? That would ruin me.

This kid also has cystic fibrosis, which I suspect played a large roll in this. I have lots of friends who know this family well. Very sad.

My grandparents had a child die at this age from hydrocephalus 50 years ago. Remember looking at family pictures with them probably 10 years ago (40 years after he passed). When he stopped showing up in pictures, they had no interest in continuing. Knowing my grandmother would see him again when she died 8 years ago brought me peace.

Very sad. I couldn't imagine losing one of my children.
All that boy wanted to do was run around and laugh I bet.

Talk about an awful sickness as well. You have what looks like a perfectly healthy kid, and you know in the back of your head they will likely die before they ever reach 35

I don't know what would be harder -- having to say goodbye knowing it's your last time talking to them or not being able to comfort their fear knowing it's the last time they're talking to you.

A lot of kids who do unfortunately pass away from the flu usually have some sort of pre existing condition.
Couldn't even imagine. Prayers for this kid and the family.

There have been 53 pediatric deaths resulting from flu and associated complications so far this season per the CDC.

This is what I think too. But you have people coming in here that act like there are healthy people just dropping dead from the flu. It absolutely scares people but it's not really true and i wish people would give the public all the facts.

My Paternal Grandmother lost two children. She talked about it very little (German Stock). My Father was the first child to survive passed 5 years old. He was the golden child to her. He deserved it, he was a great man.
