He's probably a career criminal with a past. I'd try threatening to get the police involved. Trashy career criminals hate dealing with The Law, and magically straighten up as soon as the police appear ....

Seems like forging a will is a lot of effort and risk for this payoff.

Uncle sounds like a man with nothing. And a man with nothing ain't got nothing to lose.

not sure if serious? Hand written will is fine
I am serious. It would be even more difficult to forge an entire olographic will and get away with it. Any competent forensic handwriting analysis would uncover it, as long is there is a trusted writing sample from the deceased.

So, maybe I should have said that it is hard to falsify a will and get away with it if challenged.

left the hospital to break into his home and steal

This is why I have a very small amount of close cousins that I 100% trust. If anything would happen to my parents, and no one will be home to monitor their assets, they’ll fly over to the house on the dime to camp out.

Making sure some of the “no good” relatives want to go over and steal whatever.

Man, hate to say it, but move on. Outside of something that might be of sentimental value, it is not worth fighting over.

They will spend more than that fighting over it.
