Family files lawsuit against BRPD, claims quick response could have prevented injury

A Baton Rouge family says it took two calls to the Baton Rouge Police Department to help while bullets flew through their home. Now, that family has filed a lawsuit, demanding answers. They simply want to know what took them so long.

The lawsuit says some 40 minutes went by before a second plea went out.

Haley says some neighborhoods could be attached with a stigma.
“And through the discovery process, hopefully we’ll be able to prove and show that there’s a disparity between responding to certain neighborhoods versus responding to other neighborhoods," he said.
Would love for this guy to tell us what this stigma is...and why it is that way.
This is the result of how the alton sterling fiasco was handled and a mayor who doesn't support and have the back of her police officers.

And even when BRPD did show up, they probably refused to cooperate.

It will get thrown out. Castle Rock v Gonzales ruling by SCOTUS says cops do not have a duty to protect anyone not in their custody.

Sounds like another low budget rap video being filmed gone wrong.

No, Baton Rouge cops just suck
I called them last summer when a few black guys parked on the street at 2AM and started pulling door handles/checking for open garages. It took the cops nearly 90 minutes to show up and the dudes were gone by the time they arrived.

We don’t want you here until we want you here. But when you get here we aren’t going to cooperate and if you do shite we are going to try to get you fired and sue you for everything you have.

So let me try to understand this: they spent all of 2016 and some of 2017 doing nothing but protesting the police department and calling them all racist pigs, and now that someone's a little late to a call in a dangerous part of a dangerous city, they're going to sue them? Maybe if you want better service try to help the police and teach your kids to respect them, not stonewall them at every turn and scream about racist pigs every chance you get.

If BRPD has to respond every time someone’s home is shot up they will have to hire more officers and won’t have time for anything else.

Lives in Mogadishu. Complains when people from Mogadishu do Mogadishu things. Does nothing to change their situation or improve their situation. I will help.
Move out of Mogadishu, a-hole.

If I am correct April 20, 2018; is on a Friday morning before dawn. Probably talking 6:32 am again could be off.
Usually departments are not well staffed for uniform patrol during this time. Typically your spending your labor hours during weekend afternoon and evening shifts. I could be wrong.
Now traffic division yes they should be staffed up ready to go. Uniform patrol usually not during this time.
The call could have fell through cracks of shift change.

Seems like the family’s beef should be with the people that shot the son, not the cops.

You pay for the service you get unless you live in a corrupt city like Baton Rouge... these frickers had 10% sales tax at one point and still paid 35K to new cops.
There’s a huge police shortage in Baton Rouge. Traffic jobs are now outsourced to the State Troopers who are running speed traps and DUI checkpoints in the city.

In all fairness 2am is prime time to obtain revenue (DUIs) and all cops on duty were busy.

Understaffed because the chief is a racist.

BR city government and C-P is rapidly declining in a lot of areas.
BRPD
Garbage pick up
Drainage
Permits and inspections
All declining

“I think with a timely response and police being on the scene, certainly it would have slowed down some of the gunfire and maybe even prevented the gunfire,” Moore said. Haley says the family’s anxiety raised as each minute passed. “Waiting, hoping that every car that passed by, that the blue lights are going to flash and that they’ll be ushered outside the house," said Hall.
But... if BRPD showed up and eliminated the gunmen, then we'd have protests. This is fricking stupid...maybe they should look into how they have behaved against cops before asking why.
