when Sasol was announced i thought the area behind Brownsville (think Ernest St from 12th to Prien) was ripe for gentrification. there are some nice homes there and there are still middle class families
Yea I agree.
It's an interesting area. Now you have two higher-end developments right around the corner by the port too.
That and those business and medical complexes that were mostly empty for years are filling up again. Then a few feet away you have a ghetto. I guess it didn't both Holiday Inn, though.

i still want to meet the one baw with the huge "Live Free or Die" flag flying. I think it's on Creole or Ernest right before the mall
having a legitimate ghetto surrounding the mall has accelerated its death for sure
Givonanni street at night is possibly the scariest part of Lake Charles

I won't go to the mall movie theatre at night because it's too close to the ghetto

Look, if someone breaks into your house they deserve to be shot. They should know that as well, but they decided to take that risk..
But I don't ever fault family members for their actions after a loved one is killed. First, no one ever wants to believe their son, brother, sister, mother, father, etc did something.
Even if they know that person was troubled, they know another side of that person and its just acts of emotion.
I am sure everyone grew up with or knew someone whose parents never thought that kid could do no wrong no matter what. That's just the way it is.

It's worth noting that, even though they say the investigation is continuing, the LC police have said since day one that the apartment renter was within their rights to defend their home. I think the "continuing investigation" is just to appease the family complaining about it saying he was innocent.
Don't kid yourself. The investigation is "continuing" so that a liberal DA can find anything to hit the shooter with.

Let's add the danger of moving into an apartment and not knowing the criminal proclivities of the previous tenants.
Just because the previous occupants moved out, doesn't mean that their friends, suppliers, and enemies know they are gone.
When LeRoi comes knocking, you better be packin'.

The current state of the Lake Charles DA's office makes this statement laughable. It has had scandal after scandal and the current DA is stepping down. The two contenders are far from liberal.

Like I said, if someone breaks into your house/apartment frick them. They know the risk or at least should so if they get shot its their own fault.
I am just saying you can't blame a family for responding the way they do.

This is not quite right.
Let’s put it this way, a homeowner has a right to defend themself and their family/property from an intruder. Depending on the circumstances, (most of the time), the intentions of the intruder are unknown and the risk of danger is so high that use of deadly force is necessary to protect yourself.
Therefore, it is understood in our society that to break into someone’s home, especially in the dark, no matter what your intentions, is highly risky behavior and likely to cause someone to get harmed or killed.
Young men who aren’t taught these things, perhaps because they weren’t raised by a father, maybe do have good hearts but just get caught in a cycle of stupidity. I can believe that.
I can believe the statement that he didn’t “deserve to die”. Let’s be clear: The home owner didn’t make the decision that the kid deserved to die. The home owner made possibly the most terrifying and difficult decision of his life to protect his own life and family from a threat. It’s just the terrible position that he was put in by the young man.

It’s placating the wrong-doing, instead of condemning their actions. It’s wrong, stop spinning it

Capt. Kevin Kirkum said a person made an unauthorized entry into an apartment and was shot by the renter of the apartment. Police later identified the person shot as 22-year-old Ronald D. Fontenot, who died from his injuries.
Nothing like a feel good story on Friday. Thanks for posting.

this possibly, I don't know a thing about the DA there.
but I bet it is to quell potential riots more than anything

For a black on black killing? I don't think any white people live in Suffolk Manor.

IMO, this is one of the main goals of BLM.

Well Christian "D" Chesson doesn't strike me as a conservative but Stephen Dwight surely is.

I think out of all the nutjobs we see right now...BLM, Antifa, whoever, it's actually one of the main things they agree on. They try to skate around just coming out and saying it. But, when you read between the lines, this is something they are trying to backdoor into the mainstream media.
